  1. Unofficial Arcanum Patch DRAMA

LOL what the hell happened here. Anyway, everyone will be overjoyed to learn that I got the patch working after noticing that not even the official patch had taken. Arcanum installed to the wrong drive for no reason, but installed enough files in the right place to look as though it hadn't.
  2. Idea for a magic system.

I would like to see a tiered fatigue system, where your fatigue regenerates but only back to the last tier you crossed. You could have for instance 3 partitions labelled fresh/fatigued/exhausted and once you break into a lower tier you are stuck with the lower threshold and rate of recovery...
  3. What would make a good non-magic cRPG setting?

bronze age and post-organic for me. they don't suffer from miniscule potential audiences as a bonus.
  4. Unofficial Arcanum Patch (Original Thread)

nm, I'm lazy and dumb and terra-arcanum was lying.
  5. Unofficial Arcanum Patch (Original Thread)

Apologies for me being such a retard, but: I installed the game to c:\sierra\arcanum I installed the official patch to c:\sierra\arcanum I installed the unofficial patch to c:\sierra\arcanum Which folder exactly should I be installing it to? (I really do appreciate your efforts)
  6. Unofficial Arcanum Patch (Original Thread)

ok I fully reinstalled. game>1074>unofficial@c:\sierra\arcanum Im taking it that since its still asking for the disk to play that its not working. sigh.
  7. Unofficial Arcanum Patch (Original Thread)

    Correct folder being c/sierra/arcanum?
  8. Unofficial Arcanum Patch (Original Thread)

I downloaded this and ran the installer but the changes didnt seem to take effect? I'm pretty certain I didnt have any mods installed. Am I supposed to delete anything or move something or what?
  9. Mass Effect: collar grabbing, rape, and space nazis.

i really enjoyed ME. it's paced well, i was engaged for the majority of my 40+ hours and it was a fun game. combat is top tier for an rpg. writing/story is cheesy but torment is the only game ive played where it wasnt(fallout was ok in an understated way, but in terms of content its really...
  10. The Definiton of Evil

no, youve just outlined some of the depth and nuance of this way of thinking about things. 'good' and 'evil' are emotional reactions to the different relationships. enemies and friends. they are subjective relationships between individuals. in game terms, make a character with wants and...
  11. The Definiton of Evil

'evil'=exploitative 'good'=cooperative easy. the latter terms are unfailingly more useful/accurate.
  12. Injury systems, a.k.a. "hitpoints"

save game needs to be done with already. its a crutch used in place of things that can be handled by gameplay, which considering how shallow and empty many modern games are is fucking stupid. an idea i had to deal with the issue of realistic injury and death would be to simply have the player...
  13. Game News Jade Empire gone gold

hilariously, the most obvious flaw was how totally they dropped the ball on the kung fu elements. those fucking chi shields were god awful.
  14. vain, naiive question.

lets say i want to make an rpg. where do i start? ha! seriously tho...
  15. An RPG without leveling

roleplaying a character who cannot learn or develop is retarded/impossible/pointless. same goes for setting. fundamental.(if not actually the entire point) i could care less about loot.
