The Dark Eye Realms of Arkania Trilogy (classic) virgin run

Indeed, magic users in RoA/TDE are not really effective as pure damage dealers in particular. Use them more for (de)buffing. In particular the blinding spell can be useful. Direct damage spells are better used to finish off dangerous enemies, or against enemies that are immune to normal weapons...

    Euro Truck Simulator 2

I might be even more german than I thought, but I'm enjoying this from time to time. It's strangely relaxing. Sales are frequent enough to justify buying an expansion every now and then. My biggest issue is the braindead AI. It can't into traffic rules and the player seems to be charged for...

KickStarter Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones - a Lovecraftian Computer RPG

For anyone still bothering with Humble Monthly (now Humble Choice) - this game is part of it this month. I'm still sitting on a classic plan (10 games for 12 bucks, only available when coming from Humble Monthly), which I keep pausing month after month, but I'm contemplating reactivating it...

Black Mesa - legendary vaporware Half-Life remake finally out

Unfortunately they screwed up the linux version. Can't get it to run properly. It's strange since other titles like L4D2 or the old HL episodes run fine for me on Linux. Windows version runs fine, though.

Vapourware Eitr - Norse-themed pixel art Dark Souls-inspired hack and slash thingie

Wow, that's some serious vaporware there. "Not representive of final product" - when do they intend to release it? After 2025?

    Disco Elysium spoilery thread

Apparently not. And I think you could actually end up stuck, if you don't make the check, don't have any points left to spend but have exhausted all side-quests. Unlikely, but possible. Probably not that much, I guess? But then, who knows, maybe Kim gets too annoyed eventually. The biggest...

    Disco Elysium spoilery thread

So, finished it. Overall maybe not a contender for "best classical cRPG of 2019", but a pretty cool experience. As others have stated, the world- and characterbuilding ZA/UM has done is great. Harry is definitely one of the most memorable protagonists in a game I played and despite the...

Decline Why so little love for Nethack?

I've played DCSS on and off for a couple of years, but I always lose interest after a couple of (failed) runs. Guess I just don't want to bother with properly learning these game and their systems.

Shadowrun Is Shadowrun Hong Kong worth it?

Overall Dragonfall was the better game in terms of story and having some missions that stood out more. Hong Kong isn't bad though, but a somewhat different setting and while the missions in general are varied, they are missing some really memorable ones. I was a bit let down by HBS not improving...

KickStarter Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Dan Vavra's medieval chad simulator

Of course it's possible I just missed some alternative way to do the quest, but to me it seemed as if high stealth skills are pretty much mandatory to finish that quest peacefully or in a "good" way. And some critical stuff seems locked behind high difficulty locks for which there are no keys...

    About ELEX...

Well, I liked it despite its shortcomings. First game in a long time I had played without any interruptions by other games from start to finish. Probably because something of the old PB (pre-Risen 2) shines up occasionally, and because it manages to play and feel different enough from all that...

Frogwares' Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments

Btw., the game's on GOG now and currently on sale for 6 bucks until 4th of november during their Halloween sale. That's the lowest price it ever had afaik (outside some keystores maybe) and well worth it.

The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition - Obsidian's first-person sci-fi RPG set in a corporate space colony

Sadly, Codex in general has become pretty useless to assess the quality of a game. Nowadays, most of the time it's the alt-right equivalent to SJW-forums. Equally idotic triggers, only from the opposite politic spectrum. When it used to be mostly angry neckbeards complaining about the sad state...

Pathfinder Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition - now with turn-based combat

So, I finally finished it. Playthrough took me super long for some reason, Steam says 240+ hours for it. :M No idea why, but it kinda explains almost playing on it for one year (albeit with one or two longer breaks). Overall it was good and very recommendable for any fan of RtwP/DnD-RPGs...

Pathfinder Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Enhanced Plus Edition - now with turn-based combat

Man, the House at the End of Time sure is some annoying shit... I have ways of dealing with all the mobs there, but come on, just cloning the map and stashing a large group of the most annoying enemies in the entire fucking game into every other room is just getting old fast.
