  1. Game News Project Eternity Kickstarter Update #63: Stronghold Mechanics

One of my favorite games ever. It's a shame all of the later remakes I've played don't seem to have quite the same magic as the various (PC -- not going to call it DOS since it was a boot disk/C64/Mac/Amiga/Atari ST/NES) versions of the original.
  2. Tales of Illyria Series for Android

Great! I really liked the game aside from that one bit of discomfort, and I'm looking forward to playing any future sequels/expansions. :D
  3. Tales of Illyria Series for Android

Is there any way you can make it a little clearer to the player at what points you're saving the game during the endgame? I was somewhat terrified to put the game down because I kept being railroaded from town battle to town battle with no way to stop in the towns and be sure I'd saved and it...
  4. Wasteland Wasteland 2 Pre-Release Discussion Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Agreed. A red LED dot matrix display really doesn't look that 80s to me, plus the red just stands out and is a bit ugly. Someone should remind inXile about 7-segment displays, and that by the mid 80s they already came in multiple colors:
  5. Shadowrun Shadowrun Returns - Dead Man's Switch Original Campaign

Yeah, I tried that card on the door first and it didn't work. May be a bug, or may be that not even all in the 'inner circle' are cleared to know about the doorway. Also, apparently finding that doorway shaves some time off the final run. It makes mention that you go back through the doorway...
  6. Shadowrun Shadowrun Returns - Dead Man's Switch Original Campaign

There's another way in this door that requires neither STR nor Decking:
  7. Game News Wasteland 2's Delay: All About Making Choice Matter

I get the impression the area won't just disappear from the map based on what someone ( :mca: or maybe :cmcc: ?) said in an interview about an area that they were designing being almost like designing two areas because it was completely different if <SOMETHING THEY COULDN'T TALK ABOUT> happened...
  8. Shadowrun Shadowrun Returns Pre-Release Thread

Not a chance. The reason it's a dlc instead of part of the main game is that they didn't have the time and money to make it before releasing Seattle
  9. Wasteland Wasteland 2 Pre-Release Discussion Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

I feel like it's easier to define an "indie game" than an "indie developer". An "indie game" would be one that isn't pitched to, financed by, and produced for a publisher but instead funded using private investment, advance purchases (including kickstarter and alpha-funding), and developer...
  10. Wasteland Wasteland 2 Pre-Release Discussion Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

I think there's a certain expectation of team size and type of games you're making that factors in there. If you're making AAA games, you're almost by definition non-indie, no matter what your corporate ownership looks like. inXile is, I think, small enough to still be Indie. Double Fine is...
  11. Wasteland Wasteland 2 Pre-Release Discussion Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Somehow I think people using that definition of 'indie' would consider that a feature, not a bug. :smug:
  12. Wasteland Wasteland 2 Pre-Release Discussion Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Guessing more in the "stays righteously independent. Has always scorned any type of deal with anyone who might be construed as a publisher, because that would be 'selling out'. Has hipster anti-establishment cred. Hates corporations and the man so much, they run their game studio as a sole...
  13. Shadowrun Shadowrun Returns Pre-Release Thread

At the least, I think it would be less clear-cut than BN thinks. Whether or not EA could win, EA could certainly sue over such a game, and EA can afford far more lawyers for far more time than inXile. Though inXile owning the "Wasteland" trademark makes it interesting, since usually in...
  14. Shadowrun Shadowrun Returns Pre-Release Thread

To be more precise, by owning the trademark inXile owns the right to sell a game called "Wasteland 2". EA owns the copyright for Wasteland 1, meaning: EA are the only ones with the right to sell or give away the original Wasteland. InXile has a deal with EA allowing InXile to give away the...
  15. Wasteland Wasteland 2 Pre-Release Discussion Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Yes, but when the company brand is as wrapped up in one person as inXile and Brian Fargo, that person tends to be contractually obligated to stick around for at least a few years after the buyout. Is BF ready to retire? I don't know. He might have been thinking about it before the success of...
