Nethergate is awesome, too. It's like Avernum on stereoids - similar dungeon crawling, party-based, bigass open world (smaller than in AV3), yet with more narrative and role-playing options, like Geneforge.Amasius said:More of the same, only better. Best Spiderweb game so far I'd say. (But I haven't played the Nethergate remake yet)
Actually, Geneforge 4 updated both the sprites and the interface.Jasede said:...
Well, it does look fucking ugly. If a game is so ugly that you want to ram your skull into a pair of scissors then something is wrong.
I wouldn't even mind it if at least they improved! But no, they don't. The same shitty interface, the same cancerous sprites, every new game-
You can't expect sane people - or me - to even bother with a game that is so ugly that even mentioning its unholy name spreads a blight amongst the people.
I'd play it if it was text-only. Ugly graphics < no graphics.
Actually, yeah, it is, since you can attack and cast spells with only 1 AP left.Oh, and combat is no different from the other games.

Attacking only ended your turn if after the attack you had less than 5 AP. With 5 more more AP (possible with quicksilver equipment or haste/mass energize), your turn would continue.Azael said:Sodomy said:Actually, yeah, it is, since you can attack and cast spells with only 1 AP left.
True, that did change combat. It's not really a significant change though and attacking still ended your turn. Combat in Vogel's games are only really interesting for spell slingers since they at least have some degree of choice in combat. Melee combat is just about hitting the enemy with the same damn attack the whole time. The only difference is in what weapon you use.
