I had a little free time today and decided to try this list of mods for the supposedly HD version of Silent Hill 2 and holy shit is it an impressive package
My only complaint would be that for some reason the game wont run unless there is an internet connection (otherwise it just hangs) but other than that is it superb and highly recommended to fans of the series

Is this the one that also uses the PS2 sound files (PC SH2 actually uses lower-quality files than the PS2)?

If the purpose of that modification is to make the PC version resemble the PS2 version, wouldn't it just be better to emulate the latter if one's PC is good enough? I tried the game that way once and it certainly looked better.

There is just a filter that changes tones a bit, adds AA and overall makes it look closer to the PS2 version but overall it looks very good

About wine3d it just fixes 2 issues that you can easily live without so you can just ignore that step without problems

And that thanks for the indirect sound tip, it removed the annoying clicking sound at the end of the some sounds but it also isn’t a big deal not to include

I played the game for some time and it overall it looks much closer to the PS2 version, which kind of looks a bit “soft” but overall it gives the game a more dreamlike aesthetic which is alright with me

Does it gib proper modern fagpad support? Last time I played it on PCSX2 with 8x native res + FXAA and widescreen fix enabled, and it looked great. Except I wished I could disable grain filter. And there were occasionally some texture glitches at at the edge of the screen in some places due to widescreen enabled, but didn't bother me too much so I kept it on.

Looks horribly out of place.

One might even say...disconsonant. :positive:

New update posted. They've made a package installer/updater, configuration now can be done through a UI, and created a new audio engine so the game no longer has to run off a single core (which would frequently put it to 99% usage).

60fps working properly, reworked controller & mouse/keyboard controls, and some other minor options (CRT Shader, improved language support).
