Wokeness didn't happen yesterday - games have always had a perspective, they've always had things in there, but I want to be clear, it's been a subtext of my games, not the context.

I think subtext vs context is the critical thing here! Yes, Bloodlines had a gay character and Cyberpunk had as trans character, but they didn't push them into your face. Normal gay and trans people won't do this as well.

Notice how everyone who actually plays Avowed comes away liking it? I keep telling you guys it's actually (trigger warning) decent.
How is combat, and is there gore in the game, or do enemies just drop dead?

I'm playing a mage and you've got a bunch of spells to spam and debuffs/buffs to manage all the time. While spamming teammate abilities. I'm going off the beaten path a lot and taking fights way higher level and it's fun trying not to get 1-2 shot. Gore non existent really.

You can have women or black people in RPGs absent propaganda, many Renaissance era RPGs and Gold Box era RPGs had them.

Females of the Realms can excel in any area they wish, and are easily the equals of their male counterparts in every skill or respect.
- Baldur's Gate 1, during character creation.

I do like the emphasis. "EASILY the equals"

Now, for male characters it just says they can excel in wizardry, thievery or arts of war, but poz developers simply HAD TO emphasise not how females can excel in, I don't know, thievery, sorcery and whatnot, but instead how they are equals to males. And you know what? I actually don't care about that ("it's a fantasy" isn't completely invalid argument), but then why even have sexes, genders and, most importantly, why put an emphasis on that? Did Bioware consider its player base retarded even then, so they had to emphasise that choosing a female character comes with no penalty, even though it takes 10 seconds to see that indeed it's the same as having a male character? Who knows.

Many "old beloved" RPGs are, relative to the time and culture they were made in, even more progressive and liberal than today's are. You all just think your childhood sweet RPGs are these innocent fun games, when in reality they were already atrociously bad when you actually distance yourself from your bias.

I always assumed that they emphasized that in character creation because older editions of D&D had sex differences and people who played those and not later ones might assume that BG did as well.

BG1 was always woke, remember Shar-Teel? Remember Jaheira the strong brave wamyn and her cowardly stuttering husband? Remember Safana the former pirate and a bigger slut than a modern Californian college girl?

Everyone of them was purposefully made to be a caricature. Just like almost every other companion in the game.

Female action heroine is pure feminist propaganda.
More like a fantasy. Hot females in sexy outfits were a norm long before feminism became a thing.
Name a few.
Its both really.
Or can be both, depending on how its handled.

Girls Frontline is a franchise in which you play a military tactician that handles squads of "dolls", androids with female personality and appearance. You, as the commander, can be a liability on the field, since you are just some dude. But your decisions are followed unquestionably and you are rarely ever wrong. Even when under emotional stress and shown to be making rash decisions, they are good, well thought out decisions, and the game makes it a point to show you that. Every single one of your soldiers has the utmost respect for the commander.

The writing in the series is fairly good too, when you ignore the anime girl nonsense you will find that whomever the writer is, he understands warfare.
There arent many examples of this trope though, usually when you have strong females, you have emasculated men.
Okay, I'm sold

What gay character? Regardless, Bloodlines at least balanced it out by making fun of trannies in one of the radio commercials. "Tuck's Sex Exchange" I believe it was called

I have a better theory. When people who never had good taste, such as yourself, begin feeling inferior (because they are unable to rationalize it) they invent copes such as "nostalgia."

Elves are matriarchal which is why elf men are always pussies.
You probably never leave your house, but some native americans are matriarchal too and their men are always pussies that get bullied by their grandmothers and shit.

What I remember about shar teel is beating her fucking ass then never using her because her stats suck. Sounds like you lost to her somehow and took it personally, thats pathetic lol.

On topic, avowed is a massive failure and roguey is coping hard.

You're coping just as hard as Rougay. Two different flavours of the same faggotry.
