How is this different from 2015 or 2014 or any other recent year? Just because there have been more hits in Europe and not just Africa or the Middle-East doesn't mean it has escalated.

And another thing to consider - if ISIS is behind all actions, they're single-handedly the most effective terrorist organization that has ever existed. Even with state support from factions in Turkey and the rest of the globe, that's highly unlikely.

Because the hits on Europe and USA are paving the way for thing to get worse. While far-right always existed, most people could hand-wave the idea. Attack were rare after all. Today with terrorist attacks getting more intense, far-right is getting far stronger. Racial and religious tension are getting higher.
