<A href="http://www.rpgdot.com/">RPGDot</a> has an <A href="http://www.rpgdot.com/index.php?hsaction=10053&ID=1182">interview</a> with <b>Josh Ritter</b> about <A href="http://www.prairiegames.com/">Minions of Mirth</a>. Here's a little bit about how the DM mode will work:
<br>
<blockquote><b>RPGDot: It's also an online Multiplayer game. How does this work and what sets it apart from other online games such as EQ?
<br>
<br>
Josh Ritter:</b> Players can host their own worlds and mod the game's content and source code. When you host your own world, you can log into the game world as an Immortal. This gives you access to all sorts of special commands like controlling time, weather, monster spawns, etc. You can also setup other players as Immortals and Guardians to help administer your world. We provide the dedicated world server, full source to the game's RPG logic, and full source to the game's RPG database with a compiler, as a free download.</blockquote>

Fun game. If you ever played any text muds (diku/merc/rom et al), you will quickly see that this game was inspired very directly from MUDs of old (more than current mmos). Persistent worlds are easy to run if you want a place for you and your friends (or the general public) to adventure. I have not tried creating any custom content, so not sure how easy that is for the average joe like myself.

Josh Ritter, the guy who created this entire thing himself is an amazing guy. I've spoken with him to get help with Torque MMO-ness and he's just friggin amazing.

He built an entire MMO with one person basically - himself. (Ok so he got 2 people for art/graphics help but thats minor compared to the coding)

One of the great things is...he's posted info on how to make your own content for the game that he will add! Its not as easy as NWN building, but if you'd like to help craft an MMO...here's your chance!
