It's now been almost a week since PAX Prime concluded, but developer interviews are still popping up on the Internet. Here are a few that are relevant to the Codex's interests. First, an interview with Josh Sawyer and Adam Brennecke about Pillars of Eternity and its expansion at Shacknews:



The interesting part of this interview is the second half, where Josh and Adam talk about Obsidian's situation and current plans. According to Adam, the company's next crowdfunded game is currently in initial preparation stages. Interestingly, he refers to it as a Kickstarter project before remembering to bring up Fig as well. Josh, meanwhile, discusses his plans for a Pillars of Eternity sequel, reiterating what he said in the retrospective panel about modding and multiclassing, as well as his earlier promise to place the sequel in a less "traditional Euro fantasy" area of the setting, much like Baldur's Gate 2 did.

Next up is this interview with Jordan Weisman at PC Gamer, where he talks about BattleTech and Harebrained Schemes' other games, as well as the state of indie development, Kickstarter, his opinion of Microsoft, and more:



As far as details about BattleTech go, there's not much here that we didn't hear in yesterday's interview. Jordan once again reiterates Harebrained's commitment to strong storytelling, promising to emphasize the setting like no BattleTech game has before. He also reveals that the game is planned for release in the first quarter of 2017. I wonder if they can keep to that date the same way they did with Shadowrun: Hong Kong.

In addition to this, PC Gamer also had a chance to speak with Josh Sawyer, although their interview was actually more about Fallout than Pillars of Eternity. While talking about Fallout 4 and its new romance features, Josh revealed that Obsidian had planned to let you get drunk and marry Cass in Fallout: New Vegas, although this had to be cut for being too complex.

Finally, The Banner Saga 2 also had a presence at PAX Prime, not by the developers but by their publisher, Versus Evil. Shacknews had a short talk with Versus Evil CEO Steve Escalante about the game, although there's not much here that we didn't already hear at E3.

Yeah I could have gone to this, but sadly we needed to get the tickets WAY WAY WAY before the event.

Maybe next year someone can remember when the PAX tickets go on sale next year, and I'll go then.

I have no interest in the next PoE expansion, let alone its sequel. I do however hope they sell better than PoE did. So i can in turn hope that someday, they will try out their own FNV. Which unless i am mistaken, they mostly do not consider due to budget issues. Has even been mentioned during KS-related interviews if i recall.
No offense to the pitchfork teams, but PoE proved (emphasis: to me) that partly due to age, partly due to a healthyer competition, i have come to expect more in some areas and differently in yet others. Considering the experience of the studio, the outcome prohibited any future excitement from my part. Far as their isometrics go. A new FNV though, even with MCA gone (he could still pitch in)? That i would get excited for. Herecy? Maybe for you. Myself, if i like something, i just want more of it :)

As for ShallowBrained..until i see ingame footage of an engine that does not scream mobile and lololtrendy? Until i see combat that is not easy and systems that are not mediocre at best? Because lololtrendy does have a price..? Whatever. Talk is cheap.

I am very interested about PoE sequel. I do wonder what they will do. Dont really care about Fallout anymore, especially after Beth got their hands on it.

As for Jordan they are slowly acquiring experience so I am hopeful.

PoE sequel? Like moar trash combat with minimum role-playing? No, I think I'll pass this time. Battletech, on the other hand, sounds more interesting, if they won't screw this up.

They should use a completely 3d engine for battletech, with elevation, complex line of sight, proper fog of War, ballistics for the missiles and rockets, cover, etc.

I want my battletech to be fun to play and not only fun to look at.

Fallout 2 allowed you to have gay marriage in 1998. So it seems that Bethesda(sic); as I think you mean Bioware more than Bethesda; learned from the darlings of the Codex(BIS, the original Obsidian) about INCLOOSIVE!!! romances rather than the other way round.

Looking at it rationally, romances are just more opportunities to role-play, so that is a good thing by default – at least if it is done right, as everything else. The problem is that after DA:O, some causal gamers not just demand romances, but also expect them to be cringe-worthy dialogues with sexual innuendos, grooming and SJW propaganda. Of course, the motivation of the romance-hater behavior, amongst which I count myself, is irrational. You don’t like the feature X just because the unwashed masses also want X. Since you considered yourself superior, you don’t want to be compared to them. Just think for a minute how stupid this is: stupid people like books and fiction, so you can’t like books and fiction. It doesn’t make any sense, but that is how everyone thinks.

I play RPGs. I don't fantasize about having sex with an NPC because that's the closest one gets to actual human romantic interaction. But keep trying to pretend they're the same thing.
