There's an interview about The Witcher over at Total Video Games. It's a five page monster, though there's only three or so questions per page. Here's part of the fun:

What do you see as the game’s main qualities and the type of gamer who will be intersted by what The Witcher has to offer?

Michal Madej: The best thing about The Witcher is its completely fresh approach to the genre. Any RPG fan will find all the elements that they look for in an RPG in The Witcher – but each one will be treated in a slightly different and interesting way. The most important elements here are: the intriguing storyline, the exciting combat and the unique idea of the main character. Of course ideas alone, even the best ones, are not everything – implementation of these ideas is also important, which in The Witcher is also something that is at a very high level.

You know, I think this game has huge potential after watching those quest videos. Having said that, they need to smack their hype guy for saying something silly like the underlined portion there.

Witcher is one of the few upcomming RPG titles along with GothicIII and Fall (don't sneer) I anticipate but this kind of blunt and pointless hype makes me sick.
Do they really expect to win symphaty when publically saying:
implementation of these ideas is also important, which in The Witcher is also something that is at a very high level.
Seems they're doing Fable a bit. :?

There's thing that makes me warm though.
However, you should be older than 17 because the game has some features that are not entirely directed at a young audience. And we’re not just talking here about erotica, drugs and violence but also about serious issues which are part of the background events such as the spread of racism and the persecution of non-humans. In many situations it will be necessary to make difficult decisions and it will be possible to behave in such a way that today we would probably call politically incorrect, so that’s why to play the game you need to be a little bit older…

I hope that '' visually stunning action with dynamic and visually spectacular combat'' won't spoil the game as it may.

Why would it spoil the game?

For me, that's really all I'm hoping for from this game. An action/rpg where the "action" portion isn't terrible? Could there be such a thing?

Personally, I wish them the best and hope they get a good publisher (no publisher worries me the most) and deliver on their promises of a dark and enjoyable adventure.

That said, they could be in trouble if they don't get it out soon. The technology is already fairly dated, and long delays don't usually benefit European developers.

^ Every interview that has ever happened ever. Why do we bother with interviews anymore?

And yea, the Witcher looks like it will be a good Codex worthy game.

Well, nothing special, just an other interview, not really Fabilous :).
What you expected - them groveling, crying and confessing that this game sucks? :)

And about tech - well, provided that they do animations right, it will not be very important.
After all, it's not FPS.

Either do I.
But in this quote:
visually stunning action with dynamic and visually spectacular combat
all we could catch was ''viusually'', ''stunning'', ''dynamic'' ''visually'' (again), ''spectacular''.
The things good combat system in action RPG could manage without as long as combat is vell crafted and smartly balanced like in Gothic's one (not that I don't like to be visually stunned). The good thing about Gothic games were that combat was equally dependent on your leet keyboard skills as on developement sheet of the character. Actually it was more dependant on char's level of skill than on how good you can use WASD (or whatever mapping you use).

Oh well, maybe it's just another ambiguous epithets describing how wonderfull the game will be for casuals, but somehow the action scenes I saw in those videos made me think that they mean it exactly the way they said.

Sounds like a neat world, with very interesting story possibilities. I love morally ambiguous characters and choices.

Quite pretty, too. I'm amazed at what they've done with the engine.
