Preview Chronicler prevideoed by Nookrium

Nookrium has posted a roughly 30 minute preview video of The Chronicler, which is available for purchase but is very Early Access right now. However, you get it for half price currently and you'll get a key for Steam when it's available there. Here's the stuff on that:

The finished game will feature:

• Gorgeous and detailed pixel art.
• 100+ quests to test your ingenuity.
• Beautiful music and sound effects.
• Advance your Chronicler's skills by fighting monsters, cooking delicious meals, fishing, and exploring the huge map.

It's very pixely, which is fine with me. The author is also saying there's about to be a huge content drop for the game as well.

Iselda is a relatively quick chunky monkey. Tweedles long lost family.

Visually it looks nice considering how sparse in detail and color it is, but the real-time combat is trash even inside its own category.

Gameplay wise looks meh, he should have made it turn-based. It's his first attempt at the role play genre but Octavi's art is cool in general, there's a reason why Ron Gilbert and Garry Winnick chose him to join the Thimbleweed Park team.

The gameplay does look fairly meh. My first thought when watching the video was, "I like the art style" which was followed by, "This is pretty bare bones." However, one of the first comments is from the developer saying there's a big fleshing out content patch coming very soon, so we'll see when that happens.

Kind of cute visual style and animation. But the gameplay looks hollow and barren.
