Worthplaying has the English demo of Star Wolves 2. It's kind of tiny as far as demos go these days, only weighing in at 286MB. That means even you people still on dial up can spend a day downloading it. For those who know nothing about this, here's the feature list:

Star Wolves 2 is a sequel to the best-selling space strategy with role playing elements.

Huge game world with over 50 star systems and complete freedom to move from one to another

New ships including the Mothership, improved fighters and ships built using alien technologies

New characters and mercenaries to join your team

Non-linear storyline, several ways to finish the game and dynamic missions. It is up to the player to choose where to go and what missions to pick up.

Upgrade your ship with a huge range of parts

I like the sound of the non-linear, dynamic missions. That's something the first really needed.

Thanks, Exitium of RPG Front!

So is this series any good or what? I skipped the first one, on account it didn't sound very exciting and the reviews were subpar. On the website it says it is a best-seller.

RPG Front? Rex has made ANOTHER site? Does the guy have anything else in his life at all? Seriously, he must be founding and maintaining a new webpage every ten minutes.

EDIT: Then again, for someone who is The Unconquered Sun God I guess he's slacking on the 'number of webpages I run' front.

Ooh a Rex goldmine I've missed! Thanks - the next ten minutes will be enjoyable.

EDIT: It's even better than I had hoped. Rex is the definition of fucked-up drama.

You are retarded. Some guy starts up a thread pretending to be chakl and I get the blame for the drama. You're an idiot, Teatime.

You should try spending more time on getting laid instead of making posts like these:

It's no wonder you're still a virgin.

I don't think it's enough that you think sitting on a dildo with your eyes closed every night and pretending you're getting fucked in the ass by your nonexistent boyfriend is the same as actually getting some, you dirty little faggot. That's just sad, Teatime.

I came to this topic hoping to find some impressions of the demo and discussions pertaining to the series, but instead, I see this crap. If you've ever wondered why I don't bother to post here anymore, this would be the main reason. It's not just that you annoy me with your attacks. It's where you choose to do it.

As you have some form of grievance with me, I suggest that you just confront me with it directly (you have my MSN) instead of derailing what could have been a discussion of Star Wolves 2.

It never ceases to amaze me how you always manage to top the crap that you see. Good job on the dildo comment!

EDIT: Just so you don't take this the wrong way and we get more drama: I'm not siding with Teatime or blaming/accusing you for/of anything. The dildo comment just made me giggle in this context, so I replied.

Stfu newbs, now onto gaming --

The demo was nice, but the game needs a way to fast-travel between galaxies/star systems on the global map. Also the demo had a few bugs, such as not being able to equip system equipment on the mothership.

WOW look at all these games that 1C has released in Russia!!!

Desert Law looks interesting, but I have discovered an interesting anomaly. Some preview sites list it's release date as 2005, while others list it as 12/01/2006. Desert Law even made a crappy movie appearance at some 2005 E3 thingy. Info? Surely some mighty codexer could help.

It's because they got too much money by selling their accounting and other business related software.

1c's making a lot of very interesting looking games, and most of them seem to be of the turn-based variety. They've even got a space sim in development called Tomorrow War.

So, the game will have Star Force then, right?
Crap. I would have given it a shot - although the first one really put me off just with it's voice acting.

It'll likely only have StarForce in Russia. It's really up to the publisher. Star Wolves 1 had StarForce when it was released in Russia but the English version didn't have it.

Generally, Star Wolves 2 isn't as good as we've expected. It could be best described as a "Star Wolves 1.5". Too little development since the first part and the new features don't work to the max. So, in this case, the freedom feature, for example, mostly means boredom.

And a little tip: most of the devs, that've worked on the original game had left Xbow Software and found a new studio - Ino-co. And they currently work on the Mythic Wars project. You've probably have heard of it - quite an interesting one.

1C is one of the big publishers in Russia. They're the biggest boy on the exSoviet bloc.

I suppose even the biggest one in all Eastern Europe. Plus, you can include Cenega, which was bought by 1C last year.

And about Desert Law. I suppose the english version was already published. Unfortunately, don't know were exactly and if it is possible to buy the game online.

Hm, been keeping an eye and a half on this title for a while, but I think I'll wait for a non-Starforce release before taking it for a twirl.
