Rapacious kiddie fiddler and international Stalin cosplayer, Vince D. Weller continues to tell the proletariat that they must read this Age of Decadence manifesto at RPG Vault in order to fight the bourgeoisie.

In one of the assassin quests, you are hired to kill a couple of spies. Well, they are not homeless. They have an owner, and he doesn't like when someone messes with his property. So, if you kill them, you get a reward and a pat on the back from the assassins' guildmaster, but your reputation with the faction that has a fondness for spying just dropped by 10 points. Keep pissing them off, and soon you'll be the one fighting assassins off. On the other hand, you can protect the spies and make new friends, but your career with the assassins guild is now completely over.

What I'm trying to say is when you are asked to do something "unto" another person, remember the Bible and take a moment to think who this person is and how your actions might bite you in the ass, because most likely, they will.

That kind of humor doesn't suit you. Makes you sound like one of those constipated assholes from NMA.

Good coverage though.

Actually, it make him look like as if he wanted to copie Spazmo's (hillarious) style, but it doesn't really work out too well.

Stick with what youve got and dont try to play anyone else.

Well yeah and I get the impression those NMA guys try to copy somebody they're not as well, that's what makes them sound so constipated.

1st pic on 2nd page doesn't work for me, apart from that it looks excellent now. Interesting details of a quest too - i am really gonna enjoy this game I think.

Do we have magical omnipotent faction incrementors/decrementors? I'm familiar enough with the technical hurdles involved, to not to throw a tantrum about it. But I am looking forward to the day when kicking a puppy at the bottom of a deserted mine doesn't immediately cause:

Your reputation with puppies has decreased.
Your reputation with future serial killers has increased.
Your reputation with the lady in that one nasty porno has decreased.

What seems to be the problem, officer?

Agreed, thanks to VD for putting the time and thought into the game. Looks like it will be a winner. I particularly agree with your decision to focus on the use of text descriptions to further the immersion and gameplay -- nice work.

What obediah said. Nevertheless, if all quest are this involving I'll be one happy camper. Now get the thing finished, damned!

Oh and the screens look a lot moodyer (?) now.

No, nothing like that. All reputation increases/decreases are logical, and most importantly, you can always see them coming.

Just to give you an idea, let's take the spies quest (mentioned in the article) as an example. You are told to kill two spies. You go there and find a dying man and his daughter (see the updated writing thread, there are some descriptions there). The outcomes are:

1. you let them get away -> the guildmaster thinks that you are a moron -> rep with the guild goes down; the client (House A) blames the guild, but not you.

2. you help them get away and protect them, killing another assassin -> the guildmaster is really, really pissed off now -> rep goes way down; the client is notified and is aware that it's you who fucked things up -> rep with his House goes down a bit; the House that sent the spies is very pleased with you -> rep goes up.

3. You kill the spies -> the guildmaster is happy -> rep goes up; if you recover the logs, the client is happy -> rep goes up; the other House is pissed off about the spies and they know it was you (that's the only "weak" part, but we can blame it on other spies and a strong desire of that House to find out who was responsible for the death of the spies, but it kinda makes sense, imo) -> rep goes down a bit.

nitpicking on the graphics:
the light jets from the drilled holes are nice details, but maybe dim the lights from the holes a little bit, seeing how the wall sections close to the wall with holes are not as bright as jet of light from the holes, it looks a little funny.

Space Rangers 2 re-ignited my love of text-based adventures, and if AOD is using a similar mechanic for quests, I'm more excited about the game than ever.

Fuck, this screenshot is teh Beautful. Only one thing that i don't like are gay red feathers(?) on guards armors and helmets. Maybe try to make them darker or make some more detailed texture for them. Although you finnaly found out what can details do for making teh atmosphere. Those crushed floor blocks are fucking beautiful, and the light from lantern gives some really great feeling to this scene. For the first time in my live i'v seen somethnig that really looks like guard vs assasins night fight in some back alley. Great Job!

Sorry for my English.

Nice to see some text-adventure appreciation. One question: Do your skills/stats play a role in the actual act of assassination?
