lol, is that guy in leotards fighting a Pit Fiend mano-a-mano? that shouldn't even be concievable wihtout a balanced out party, unless the character is gonna die in a few seconds. NWN is turning into Street Fighter sans the exciting combat? (rethorical question)

Actually, there's a skeleton and a henchman there as well. Of course, I can't picture the skeleton being much of a match for the pit fiend.

true, also just noticed the Fiend got a death knight(?) backing him as well. should really have a few summoned by it. still, a skeleton and 2 PCs vs. a Pit Fiend and its henchmen = lame. just like the pushover dragon encounters in NWN campaign. I was hoping they (Bio) 'd learned something, guess not...

I think the worst thing is how awful the spell effects are in NWN. They're way, way too flashy and make the game look tacky. The turn undead effect in NWN was way overdone.

And the sad part is that most every screenshot for NWN and SoU I've seen are spell effect shots.

They don't want to give away too many new monsters (not that there are many), there are only three new tilesets, and there isn't even a code upgrade.

Good point.

That dungeon has the same tile set as the original NWN; I thought they'd put in new ones (well, besides the desert)?

Your main character in Undrentide is the favored student of a highly experienced dwarven adventurer. One day, his home--a training ground for adventurers such as yourself--is besieged by kobolds. Your master is struck down, and four of his mostly highly treasured artifacts are stolen. The game's main quest revolves around recovering these artifacts and discovering who or what is behind the unprovoked attack.
Gotta love those high-level adventurers that get "struck down" by a pack of lowly goddamned kobolds! Go Bioware, go!

Please, stop. The thing is so bad I'm getting shivers.

It is amazing to me how they can pass this off as a serious effort and not get laughed out of business. Especially after writing somewhere that one of the emphasis of the expansion would be to present a better storyline after the admittedly botched attempt in NWN.

/me shakes his head in disgust

How about when level 1 skeletons raided the Academy at Neverwinter, one of Faerun's greatest military training centers and slaughtered pretty much everyone, including the archmagi dean of magic, the level 12 trainer and all the mercenary guards from Kara-Tur?

All of the level 1 skeletons whom were dispatched shortly after by a level 1 trainee.

Isn't that quaint?

Yeah, that's one of the big problems I had with NWN's openning.. A bunch of piddly creatures attacked and overran a fairly large military training academy, complete with what should be some fairly high level characters. Just the trainers alone should have been able to smite the goblins and skeletons. The guards there should have been more than enough as well, considering the beasts with the cure were there also.

No. You don't understand. It was 200 red abishai that killed all the resistance, but they were summoned back to fight the Blood War; such a strong spell caused some distortions in the NPCs memories, so they don't remember any abishai when the PC talks with them.

Any one of the clerics at the academy, and hell, even Aribeth, should have been able to turn undead a couple times and wipe out every fucking skeleton in the place.
