As you may know, the official Fallout 3 site is now in business, and it comes with greetings from Todd Howard, the number one Fallout fan and true patriot.

Chris Taylor stopped by to discuss Todd's quoting of his vision statement.

Look at 'em side by side:

Todd Howard quoting vision doc said:
1. Mega levels of violence. "When people die, they don't just die – they get cut in half, they melt into a pile of goo, explode like a blood sausage, or several different ways – depending on the weapon you use."

original vision doc said:
1. Mega levels of violence (you had better give us that Mature rating right now)
You can shoot everything in this game: people, animals, buildings and walls. You can make “called shots” on people, so you can aim for their eyes or their groin. Called shots can do more damage, knock the target unconscious or have other effects. When people die, they don’t just die – they get cut in half, they melt into a pile of goo, explode like a blood sausage, or several different ways – depending on the weapon you use. When I use my rocket launcher on some poor defenseless townsperson, he’ll know (and his neighbors will be cleaning up the blood for weeks!)

*** This is the wasteland. Life is cheap and violence is all that there is. We are going to grab the player’s guts and remind him of this. ***

Fixed.

come on now, there's nothing intrinsically wrong with that statement

Newspost with a picture. Codex is now ruined for me. I blame Todd for this.

I guess it's not possible for people to be misquoted.

Sure....it can happen....but why would they give another huge exclusive to a magazine that puts false words in their mouths? Something doesn't add up, eh?

I wonder how long we have tto call Todd on his lying troglodyte bullshit before he eventually snaps, pulls a Uwe Bolle and arranges boxing matches against him in Canada.

I'd take him up on that offer, although I'd lie to him and say that I'm a freelance journalist or something. Since Uwe Boll only picked people he thought he could easily beat, I believe.

Todd isn't a big guy like Uwe, though. Who could he pick on that he could easily beat?

For the record, I never compared the violence in Fallout to Jackass, I compared it to Kill Bill…big difference.

Let me explain the difference:
One movie is over an hour's worth of slapstick.

The other movie is a tribute to Hong Kong martial arts flicks.

At least you can claim that the violence in Fallout is funny, comparing it to Kill Bill is even worse.

He reckons he was "misquoted"? Todd didn't get a degree in journalism from GameSpy did he?

The violence in Fallout wasn't like the violence in Kill Bill.

This guy has no idea what the fuck he is talking about. I thought it was just with games, but apparently he doesn't get movies either...

I'm okay with the mass market being retarded...but stop trying to pretend like you understand 'cult' stuff. And if you are main stream....don't buy the license to a cult work.

Shouldn't really bother, but anyway, in the interests of fairness he said:
Fantasy, for us, is a knight riding around on a horse[,] running around and killing things...
So I think he's more bothered it's out of context. The comma creates a totally different sentence.

Well, back to the tar and feathering...

He was probably misinterpreted, and originally said that fantasy, for them, is a knight riding a RAI powered horse that runs around and kills things.

Yea, stands to reason.
After all, you CANNOT ride around and kill things in Oblivion, after all - not before you dismount.

You're actually right, he is rather short. Can't be much taller than 160-165 cm.

Which perfectly explains his Napoleonic tendencies to conquer the RPG market.
