<a href="http://www.rpgdot.com/">RPGDot</a> has posted another <a href="http://www.rpgdot.com/index.php?hsaction=10053&ID=717">German game show impressions</a> dealie. This time up, it's about <A href="http://int.games.1c.ru/borderzone/">BorderZone</a>, a Russian made, third person over the shoulder, post apocalyptic turned fantasy type setting(meaning magic spells and stuff), action-CRPG. Here's the impression:

Not really sure how this is like <a href="http://www.interplay.com/fallout">Fallout</a> in terms of setting, other than having mutants.

Its set in the year 9000 AD - which explains the green grass and castle keeps. One of the joys of the Fallout world was wandering through the ruins of a civilization that you're entirely familiar with. If a game has an apocalypse, but then shifts the gameworld forward 7000 years to a new medieval age (typical fantasy setting,) then you make the post-apoc setting redundant.

Also, teams of ten sounds like a nightmare in RT.

I'd be surprised if, thousands of years after a total collapse of civilization, anyone remembered anything about it at all. Physical evidence would be pretty much non-existant (and the minisucle fraction would be non-accesible to medieval technology) and human memory isn't really geared to remembering the long long ago, not without artificial aids like writing and records.
