I just spotted this blurb on AVault questioning if Temple of Elemental Evil is, indeed, ready for master. Here's what they say:

The general consensus on the web is that Temple of Elemental Evil has gone gold - although Atari has not sent out an official press release. The game would need to have gone to manufacturing this week for Atari to meet its Sept. 23 street date. The publisher is notoriously reluctant to send out press releases regarding the gold status of its games - preferring to let the communities know closer to the street date. Developer Troika's Temple of Elemental Evil features a party-based single-player campaign and a faithful translation of the latest 3rd Edition rules.

The plot thickens.

According to the transcripts of the other day's chat, Tim said this:

<TimCain> We were happy to go gold as well
and
<TimCain> Atari controls the release date. We are done with the game though.

Thats pretty specific. Its gold. Atari just being sluggish, and as publisher they'd be doing the press releases

Avault is just being odd.

Atari, apparently, also is a fan of being odd. Still, the devs themselves are saying it's gold, so I'll listen to them.

Nah, Atari's just a bunch of worthless gits that wouldn't know good PR if it bit them on the ass.

I really wish Infogrames never bought the atari name.

Atari was a cherished name from my youth, draped in nostalgia, living peaceably in my memories.

It wasn't perfect then. But it held its place respectably with its peers. It earned the right to rest with honour and dignity: It fought the good fight, and lost.

Now it drags itself, screaming and wailing, through the muck and shit, unholy light flickering from its once wistful eyes. A shell of a name it is, draped over the soulless to give the illusion of prestige and dignity.

The shell is rotting. The soul is lifeless.

hmmm....maybe shouldn't have watched The Maxx all in one sitting tonite ;)

That says it all, I'd say? The only weird part it's that Gamebanshee seems to be the only site that's gotten it.
