Per <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=33994">this press release</a>, <a href="http://www.jowood.com">JoWood</a> and <a href="http://www.piranha-bytes.com">Piranha Bytes</a> have buried the hatchet and decided to stay married for the sake of the little ones. Here's a clip:
<br>
<blockquote>"We are happy that we put aside our differences with the company Pluto 13. After a long and successful period of cooperation, it w as of great concern to find the best possible solution for both parties! We are proud to continue with the marketing of products of the Gothic-series and will fulfil the high-quality expectations of its loyal fans", explains Dr. Albert Seidl, CEO JoWooD Productions.
<br>
<br>
"Our differences in the past are history. By putting them aside, Piranha Bytes as well as JoWooD get back to accomplish constructive-minded work full of vim and vigor. For the development studio Piranha Bytes that implies: the development of entertaining and high-class Role-Playing Games", as Mr. Michael Rüve, managing director Pluto 13, points out.</blockquote>
<br>
Okay, what did I miss, people? What did <a href="http://www.jowood.com">JoWood</a> do this time?

Yeah, I think some other company is still making Gothic 4.

It's not some "other company" it is good ol' Spellbound who create it.

They are also very busy fixing up the POS that the fuckers from PB left them, called "Gothic 3".

The sorry losers PB obiviously agreed to the kind offer JoWood gave them with this press release, because Pluto 13 were still scared JoWood would sue their asses off (for breaking contract and stuff).

That's what it exactly means: Noone sues anyone and Piranha MAY be contracted to do another Gothic after Gothic 4, while they stay contracted at Deep Silver at the same time.

:roll: Because PB wasnt working on their uber-patch when the negotiations went south, and of course JoWood was completely innocent, it was all the fault of those mean guys at PB. No doubt, they deserve to have their creation whisked away and whored out for all its worth. Remember JoWoods plans for Brand Development?
For future games they are looking into Gothic 4, Gothic Episodes, Gothic for consoles, and a Gothic MMORPG.

The last public statement by PB on that topic, undisputed by JoWooD, indicates that JoWooDs´ rights expire after Gothic 4.
If you look closely at this PR you will notice that it avoids mentioning any Gothic beyond part 4. Could be another hint that it´s true.

So prepare for a lot of games named "Gothic 4: NNNNNN". ;)

wut? looks like i missed some of the drama...
The short version:
Both sides were sick of each other. It lead to a dirty, violent divorce. Now they´ve finally found out that "live and let live" is the path to the money if neither side has the money to pay for a complete separation.

If PB is back in with JW and G4 is still in development by Spellbound, that's like your husband selling your daughter to someone and saying "honey we can still be married"

I hope this was not irony on you part because ...

that's exactly like it was. There never was a 1GB patch. If there was - give me proof.
