Frictionless Insight has a basic preview of Sacred 2. Fun topics include three of the six classes, the fact they're co-developing the game for the XBox 360 and the PC(bleh), multiplayer, and this:

Set in this huge world are two campaigns – the "light" and "shadow" campaigns. Each will host around 180 quests, and although some of the quests will be similar, that's because characters on the two campaigns get to approach them from opposite sides. For example, a hero pursuing the light campaign might be tasked with defending a village, while the disciple of the shadow path might have to destroy that village. Six characters are available in Sacred 2, and four can select either path, although two are inexorably linked to the light or shadow campaigns.

I'm kind of confused here. Do they mean you pick your path at the start of the game or can you pick and choose as you go? It's kind of silly to have a game like this and start out declaring yourself TEH EEVIL so you're locked in to it.

That preview suggested to me that you pick at the start. Using the "campaign" teminology also makes me think choosing a good or evil mode at the beginning of the game.

Doesn't really bother me because the story sounds pretty fucking cliche anyway and if I get it it will just be for some carefree hack'n'slash.

That would fit into regression pattern set somewhat by the Black and White -> Black and White 2 series. Anyway, the reality will be a far cry from Peter's weat and steamy dreams he's so keen on relating publicly.

Yes, it's pretty much choose character AND good/evil right at the character creation. :(

So it's like DnD then? Choose some dumb alignment at the start and then pretend to be that the rest of the game.

Well, that isn't strictly so.

There are 4 out of 6 types of characters available that don't have a determined alignment. You can take whatever decision you like and determine your light/dark path by your choice of a god/ godess, who grants you different advantages / disadvantages => That is similar to the DnD model with the additional elements of the certain available feats.

There are 2 out 6 types of characters available that have a determined alignment. Fact is, only the Seraphim is "light only" and only the Inquisitor is "dark only". => That is MORE restricted than the DnD model, because you can't change your character's alignment and you are fixed to one set of feats.

There were a few movies of a dark seraphim when the game was first announced. Did they do away with that? I always liked the Seraphim in the original game, even though that class was one that could really put a lot of wear and tear on the mouse. It was pretty much a fling everything you had all the time class.

This one then? I think it's just her style, not her alignment that is "dark".

I was really in love with my Sera in Sacred 1, even if I fucked up her skills early in the game... Played through the Underworld with her, too.

Nah, there was a video talking about how you could be good, then it showed your atypical looking seraphim a la Sacred, or evil, and showed a much darker looking seraphim. I think it was the first teaser they released for Sacred 2.

I have to say though, I'm a little worried about the idea that Sacred 2 will be released for both the XBox 360 and PC. I'm hoping that since the PC game was in development long before the XBox 360 one, there won't be any of that console limited inventory and other things that typical ports have.

Nah, don't ya worry. We had a little chit-chat about that back when you were in cryostasis, so read my postings there
