GamesRadar have an article about Sacred 2's "<a href="http://www.gamesradar.com/pc/f/hot-chicks-in-armor/a-20080624114352785004">Hot chicks in armour</a>":
<br>
<blockquote>Remember when killing monsters repeatedly for loot wasn’t called “grinding” and was actually really fun? Leveling up before the rise of MMOs never felt like a chore, but Sacred 2 looks like it might return a bit of that old school charm to the dungeon crawler genre post Diablo 2 and Titan Quest. Besides renewing our fading interest in left-clicking for treasure, Sacred’s sequel will deliver some enhanced assets to fans of the original.
<br>
<br>
If you prefer supple bosoms to hard pecs and bouncing bottoms to a hairy dwarf’s ass, you’ll probably appreciate Sacred 2’s sexy new look. Click onward for a visual fiesta of gratuitous cleavage and skimpy armor as the girls of Sacred 2 beat down giant bosses and ride mounts hard in our latest collection of saucy screens.</blockquote>
<br>
The screenshot captions are mildly amusing if you're a little bored of the "tight female armour" routine in RPGs.

"Pants reduce the amount of damage you deal when fighting rock-type monsters" is an instant classic :D

btw, in the video spells look like they have a reaaaaaally slow cast rate

Since it is a H&S game, yeah, but that's the fun about those games. Seriously.
But I also think that the women there are a bit... overkill, perhaps.

Do they have boob physics? You can't go wrong with boob physics.

[edit] And where is JarlFrank? He should contact them and offer his help. The game would surely benefit from some high-elf lesbian romance side quests.

It always amazes me as to how developers and publishers seem to think that women showing more skin in an rpg actually means more sales (does it?)

It also never ceses to amaze me that devs. and publishers seem to think that women clad in scarce armor in rpg would be better protected from -ehm- the enemy's weapons. I mean in some of these screenshorts the abdomen and the legs are complete free of any armour whatsoever :!:

It simply doesn't make any sense to me -- oh wait, maybe it does? They probably think that they'd sell more games showing nude women skin....I'm not so sure about this, though...

I don't think anything has shown that skimpier clothing in the game always leads to more sales. But I doubt anything has shown that it leads to less sales, so publishers go with it just in case a few more people buy it.

Are all of those screenshots in-game? Some of those female bodies look more like concept art. I don't mind the skiimpy armour look but not all of them should be dressed like that. I love that shot in the grass where the battleaxe looks as big as her. How could she possibly swing that thing?

[captain obvious]Sex sells. Especially to horny, lonely, male RPG nerds.[/captain obvious]

Hey Blizzard's got it going on. I don't mind either style (slender model or butch bodybuilder). Going by the ancient adage of "If you're going to be staring at an ass for hours, might as well make it a nice female one." :wink:

On what exactly do you base this statement?

Use your common sense: can you really imagine anyone buying a game just because of some skin on cover? Even if somebody did, do you think it matters enough to make even a minor impact on sales? Let's drop the whole consumer is an animal driven only by instincts way of thinking, please.

What it does though, is probably lower the value of games in everyone's eyes.

I base this statement on my observation that naked or scantily clad chicks tend to draw my eye and get my attention whether I care for the product or not. I suppose naked guys would also draw my attention, though I'd probably have negative feelings of the product instead.

Sure they won't necessarily buy the game just because it has half-naked chicks in it but the box cover/screenshots draw attention to something they otherwise might not have noticed or even cared for. Do you read into everything so literally? Or do you want figures from some experiment where they replaced the female avatars in the game with fat ugly ones and tallied sales rankings on both of them to satiate your need for "proof" (such a study I have not heard of though I'm sure some marketing folks have done it for other products, nor do I care to Google for it)?

Dead or Alive: Beach Volleyball series sells for no other reason, as far as I can tell.

Although, I suppose that's based more on the skin in the "game", rather than simply on the cover.

Scantily clad women with weapons rock , you bunch of furries.

Besides, when her enemy is distracted by her lack of clothing she can seize the opportunity to move in for the kill, just like they do IRL.

Yeah you're quite right that enemies, especially if they're like elementals, skeletons or daemons would really get horny and distracted by scantly clad women, cuz that's the only opponents I saw on those pics. And that you get distracted doesn't mean that someone fighting for their life would.

Talk for yourself. I am not wimpy enough to be beaten up by a bikini clad female model.

Maybe they dress so little because their thin fragile frame can't support anything bigger? ;)

Yes, some mad crazed woman charges at me with a huge claymore.

BUT I'M TOO FOCUSED ON HER BOOBS.

...yeahno. Sorry, this ain't lineage 2 with those cocktease elves that have the lamest lore description to give them bikini armour.
