There's a review over at Sphinx's Sanitarium covering the recently released Knights of the Old Republic, and boy does this guy love it! Here's a clip:

The RPG element is evident but not overwhelming. Yes you can customize some weapons and even the light sabers you wield but it's easy to manage and the descriptions are brief enough that it's easy to grasp what changes have been made. For example, if you customize a light saber with an extra crystal it does not rename the saber but simply states in the description "+1 Attack modifier" which of course is a good thing and easy to understand. There is also the usual cache of equipment and trinkets to put on your characters in the party. Arm braces, gauntlets, neural implants, and belts which can completely pimp out your group with all of the galaxy's finest equipment.

Okay, the first sentence is understandable, but somewhere the point got lost, I think.

Maybe his point is RPG=Equipment?
Scary and sad, but its the only way that introductory sentence works with the rest of the paragraph.

Or his intention was to point out that your usual RPG fare has your more super powerful weapons use names like 'Foozlekiller The Mighty' and shit like that. That's probably why he pointed out the '+1 attack modifier' thing.

Well, maybe. Though with its d20 heritage, the SW rules KotoR uses has ancestors that rely on +1(2, 3, 4...) to hit and damage as pretty much the sole quality of magic weapons.

Though I found the weapons to be less 'uber phat loot' than I thought they would be from a lot of the early rumors and discussions. (except for the Yavin stuff near the end). Most of it seemed like minor customizing and tweaking. And the main extra damage vs. racial category (droids) actually makes some sense.

That's what I think he was trying to convey in that first sentence though. The fact that there was typical RPG stuff with the pluses and shit, but it didn't go overboard like some of the RPGs out there do. I mean, would you rather have a lightsaber with +1 attack and +1 energy damage modifier, or a lightsaber titled 'Godstone Foozlekiller Mighty Morphing LightSaber Of Ultimate Death + 1'?

Errr, on second thought, don't answer that. :P
