<a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/55801">ShackNews are reporting that Sacred 2 has gone done somethin' interestin' wit its DRM</a>. Here's the shizzle:
<br>
<blockquote>Owners of Ascaron's PC action-RPG Sacred 2--due in North America on November 11--will be able to share the full game with friends and family for one calendar day.
<br>
<br>
Copies purchased via retail and digital download will both sport the functionality, which allows recipients to access the full game in both LAN and single-player modes, but locks off online multiplayer component. After that one day, those players will be able to unlock the game through an online purchase.
<br>
<br>
Though the announcement was light on details, publisher cdv indicated that "subsequent installs" of the game will act as the demo version, suggesting that players will have the choice of registering their copy or activating the demo after installation.
<br>
<br>
"This innovative digital rights management solution raises the bar on how consumers can sample games before they buy them," explained cdv marketing director Mario Kroll.
<br>
<br>
"Rather than showcasing only a limited character or content selection, as most traditional demos do, gamers can share and enjoy the full game experience, trying out the features that most appeal to them, and getting a true sense of the full game."</blockquote>
<br>
Sacred 2 is scheduled to come out November 11th, 2008.

So giving your game to a friend is piracee now too?

All the more reason for every sane person to order it from online stores like Demonoid or TPB. That is, if a sane person would ever want to bother with this crap in the first place.

Care to outline all these fine elements?

Wait, so you pay the for game and get a one day do anything you want demo, then you have to fork out even more money to play it afterwards. And if you don't like the game and decide not to go on and buy the full version you've just paid money for a demo that you will never play again.

Wow. What will these game developers think of next? Putting a dog crap into tenth DVD case as a 'booby prize'?

I have. Bug-ridden and funny translation, and by that I mean translation much, much worse than Witcher out of the box.

Nah, I think it's more that you can install it, play for a day, and then you'll have to activate it online; if you've bought the game you'll already have the serial, if you've "borrowed" it you'll have to purchase one. Standard securom fare, only with a shareware-like twist.

Sigh

THIS is the demo. If you've played it, want to try some more, and your friend has a copy of the game, you can try it out from him for free until you reach the last level before deciding to buy it legitmately (or not)

Irrational Games/2K Boston started this trend with Bioshock

What class is more fun to play, Brennus? I grabbed a copy a few days ago, but can't decide which character to pick for the first playthrough.

Yo, guys! What are the real system requirements? I hope it runs much better than Legend.
I can't stomach another 4h of downloading the demo that takes a big shit at 96%.

It's a diablow clone. This implies it sucks by definition.

*sigh* Ignorance is bliss.

Ignorance? Laughable considering you have not backed up your claims on why it is such a fine game. Lets try again shall we?
