The standalone expansion to Gothic 3, <b><a href="http://www.jowood.com/?lang=en&site=2&gameid=gothic3_AO&pfid=PC" target="blank">Gothic 3 - Forsaken Gods</a></b>, has been released. Original Gothic creators <a href="http://www.pluto13.de/index.php?navtarget=3&lang=en" target="blank">Piranha Bytes</a> took the opportunity to make it clear that they had nothing to do with it.
<br>
<blockquote>Essen, 2008-11-21 Today JoWooD Productions Software AG, publisher of our
<br>
games Gothic II, Gothic – Night of the Raven and Gothic 3 has officially released
<br>
their new game Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods (date for German market).
<br>
<br>
We have agreed to their usage of our registered trade mark „Gothic“.
<br>
<br>
However, to aviod any misconceptions about the game itself we have to state that we
<br>
have not been involved with its development in any way. All development was done
<br>
by the Indian based company Trine Games who have been hired by JoWooD for this
<br>
purpose.
<br>
<br>
There has never been any contact between us and Trine Games. We do not know
<br>
more about the game than anyone else – in fact we have bought our copy of the
<br>
game at a local retail store only yesterday 20th of November.
<br>
<br>
Piranha Bytes have been busy developing their upcoming fantasy RPG named
<br>
“Risen” since 2007.</blockquote>
<br>
Meanwhile, the aforementioned <a href="http://trinegames.com/games.php" target="blank">Trine Games</a> have put together the first <a href="http://forum.jowood.com/showthread.php?t=158291" target="blank">patch</a> for Forsaken Gods.
<br>
<blockquote>The most important changes:
<br>
1. Some potential Main-quest blockers fixed
<br>
2. Pathfinding and quest issues fixed
<br>
3. Missing texts
<br>
4. Gameplay elements have been improved
<br>
5. Graphical and performance improvements (including stability issues)</blockquote>

A patch already? I really dislike this trend of releasing a buggy game, then patching it immediatly. What if, for some reason, I can't get the patch? I'm not interested in this particular game, but these things happen way too often.

edit: from the patch announcement thread:
You did a good job with Forsaken Bugs ,sorry i mean "Gods". Next time test more and dont release a patch on the first day .

Cheap cheap cheap. Bioware and Beth have done it for assets for a while if i'm not mistaken.

At least they follow one of the PB traditions.

I wonder if they are planning an enhanced edition.

I see what you did there.

Am playing it now. Warning: it's very, very crap. Think really bad mod written by children using crayons. Gothic 3 is a masterpiece compared to this.

"Hey Xardas, I disagree with you about how things are going in Myrtana."
"OK, let's have a fight then!"
Nameless wins and returns to Myrtana.
"Hey, I'm nameless! I saved the world three times in the prequels".
"O RLY? Tell you what I still don't trust you. Go and win the trust of my people! I hear Oelk has a problem with birds on his roof."

I mean WTF.

An Indian game company?

People, you have my 100% word this is a bad game. Please believe me when I say this. Whatever the Europeans will do bad, Indians will do much worse.

I say this as an Indian myself.

Seriously, the game studios here have been epic failures, which are barely able to finish or produce their games. They are capable of going only as far as simple mobile games, and online casual stuff. Producing a proper game is not in their capability.

Producing any good quality entertainment is not within an Indian's capability. We have to import our entertainment.

You should move to America. You know, leave your family behind, sell them into slavery, etc...

What's your opinion on the prediction that India will be a future superpower?

There is a good side of India. I live in the awesome city of Gurgaon, in a gated paradise of a community with large gardens and tremendous aesthetic charm. And it lies next to a large stretch of malls. I am quite content here.

But the collective entertainment industry of this country is terrible. No sane or sober person can enjoy a Bollywood movie or an Indian TV soap. I doubt this country can produce good games either.

I hope this has nothing to do with Arcania, but such a flop really makes you wonder, and especially puts the Gothic 3 fiasco in perspective, unburying all the unrest and speculations there were about JoWood putting pressure on PB, making them rush the game out.
Stinks too much to be a coincidence. I wonder what Brennus would have to say about this.

Gothic is in Germany what TES is in America - no matter how shitty it turns out, fanboys will always buy it, thus keeping cocksuckers like NoGood in the business.
Yes, well seeing people like Sir Brennus, I reckon there are many German gamers who think Pirhana Bytes gives German gaming a bad name.

And how about the promised patch?

Will it be outsourced to India too?

:picard facepalm:

Now I see what might have caused the Bombay terror attack.
