There's a review of Silent Storm over on FiringSquad which gives is many props for being a good game, while finding fault with some of the other aspects of the game like grenade ranges and this:

On the other side of the fence, at some point in the game you’ll acquire certain weapons which completely ruin the game. There’s really very little challenge left after those weapons are available, and for you Jagged Alliance 2 fans, I have it on good authority that these are worse than the rocket rifles which imbalanced JA2. Most importantly, these super-weapons completely ruin the theme of the game.

Overpowered, sure, but the theme of the game isn't strictly historic World War II.

In that case, the theme of the game would have been ruined in what, the second or third Axis mission where you first encounter the weapon, right?

those weapons ruin the theme of the game as much as fighting Hitler in a Mech did in the Castle Wolfenstein game.

How about the first Axis mission where the flag isn't the Third Reich/Nazi flag? That kind of should have been a tip off there that this isn't historical WW2.

While the weapons are a bit overpowered, they're still with the theme of an alternative sci-fi World War 2 which is the theme of the game.

Characters generally take realistic amounts of damage... Most pistols can take forever to kill someone

Yeah, just like in real life. Don't you just hate those motherfuckers that take a whole clip of your trusty 9 to bring down?

[Although it seems that the reviewer is aware of head targeting, he doesn't seem to use it.]
