The interface is one of the most unusual I've ever encountered in a first person game but you'll get used to it rather quickly. It reminded me of Daggerfall and especially Ultima Underworld. There are the mana and health indicators and also the icons necessary for accessing the inventary, the money, the journal and the spell system. The journal consists of statistics about skills, attributes and character parameters, a log with all the quests, a spellbook containing all the runes you have and the spells you can cast with these and an auto-map which shows your progress and the areas you've already explored and which can be permanently left on screen starting with version 1.15. Even if towards the end of the game the journal will not have so many pages it is frustrating to save when you read the last page, exit and when entering again to realize that you have to go through all them to read about a new quest. Like in Morrowind you cannot add your own notes and though it could have been introduced the producers declared it is incompatible with a future port of the game, confirming indirectly the possible Xbox launch.
