its a very good wizardry clone on the amiga, quite an huge game even by old school standard. It might be confusing if you dont draw your maps.
What immediately strike me when playing it is the excellent ambient sounds, day and night cycle, really good atmosphere, its nothing comparable to similar abandonware pc games released. Amiga games definitively had more charm.
.It plays like a bardstale but with non hostile npcs you can chat with an recruit wich make the number of class of 32and races of 11. Town exploration similar to bardstale/wizardry.
I think not many heard about it cause it was amiga swan song, PC games were starting to become better in 91, ultima underworld in 92 was the end of amiga gaming for me.
I suggest playing it on an a500 emulator with some fake extra ram and hardrive,or even an A1200, else theres too much disk swappin on a regular real amiga.
also i advise you to check this site http://dungeony.rpghry.cz/fate/

Races:

MORONS
The Morons are the result of an experiment to create a mental super race. Morons spend all of their lives trying to improve themselves. They refuse all physical labor without exception. They are mostly delicate and tend to be fragile. But you should not be fooled by their appearance. Due to their outstanding intelligence almost all of them posses magical powers. Morons are a hightly ethical race and refuse to use weapons.

Fate - Gates of Dawn

Role playing games are currently very popular. Computer users like games
which are not only exiting and imaginative but also challenging and real.
The delectable mix of atmosphere, storyline, battles and presentation makes
such a game a classic which continues to fascinate and is fill of spirit
years after it is first published.

a worthy quote from a game manual back in the golden era..

SURPRISES

Obviously even the citizens of FATE - Gates of Dawn are familiar with the
famous reLINE games. There are rumors that, due to a technical error by a
graphic artist during digitalization, a model from the Hollywood Poker PRO
vanished into this parallel world. Her clothing has also disappeared during
this process. Who knows, maybe you'll meet her and help her out...
To keep the evil software pirates at bay the reLINE team employed a Password
Nymph who constantly checks to see whether Winwood is only a cheep copy of
the original. She too, seems to have already met the model from Hollywood
Poker PRO several times - but see for yourself!

ok, dudes, I'm trying to start this in winuae, and I end up with a serious mess of graphics. I'm pretty drunk, so this is kind of hard to explain, it's like alternate scan-lines are 50% out of phase with each other, but each line is like 4 pixels wide. this was happening a few months back with ultima 6, and I gave up, but other games seem to display fine?

more or less the same as mine, I think it might be a result of running the game off the harddrive, I'll have to check it out.

EDIT: no, scratch that, Gloom runs fine off the hd (albeit somewhat slow).

Does anyone have a good step by step of how to install hard drive games? , i've been using winuae loader which does it all for me at the click of a button. However it only works with packs pre configured. This game isn't pre configured or ambermoon :(

I remember installing amiga hard drive games years ago but the latest guides are abit of a mess!
