<b>Jan Beuck</b> was nice enough to pass along some <A href="http://www.rpgcodex.com/gallery.php?game=restrictedarea">screenshots</a> of <A href="http://www.master-creating.com/">Master Creating</a>'s developing title, <A href="http://www.restricted-area.net">Restricted Area</A> to wet people's whistles and to show the game is still in the works.

I kind of dig that artwork, it's very well done.

That art does look good and rather Bladerunner-esque actually. I noticed they have publishers for Russia and Germany, but no mention on whether they have a publisher for the US/Canada. Are they going to release it on this side of the water?

And the man in the back said "Everyone, Attack!"

I hope in the future cars don't look like that. It seems so ugly and rounded.

The art looks simply fantastic to me. One of our guys saw a German beta recently and said there's a decent RPG underneath some great action. :)

They had a publisher for US/UK, but that deal fell apart because said publisher screwed them a bit. No word on how they're getting this great-looking game into our anglophone hands yet.

Heh, looked kind of like Diablo with a gun. Lucky for that guy that his enemies didn't move as quickly as he ran, And good for him that they didn't have guns themselves. Strange how those glowing missiles moved slow enough to be seen, and the movements in general seemed to be a bit awkward. Almost as if the same mouse button was being used for movement as for shooting. Didn't look that fun, what with all that senseless running around. A guy with a gun ought to be able to hold his ground and shoot anything coming his way, or be overrun by whatever is coming. Ah well...an action-RPG is it? I'm on the fence - the action didn't look very convincing.

pretty mindless diablo-clone, only with different setting. looks amazingly boring to me. dunno what's the fuss about here.

and there's some stuttering during the in-game action (the part with the fog in street) too.

Fallout 3 with this engine. Enough said.

what? FO3 can do with a better engine. This one looks no different from Diablo 2 game that came out, what, 4, 5 years ago?

IMO, even the Diablo engine would be better than a KOTOR or MW engine. Sorry to drag FO3 into this, but what makes the game great is the story, not the uber-engine. This engine looks usable enough for a FO game.

setting aside your point that it's the story, and not the engine, that makes a game great, (which I disagree. look at how the destructable buildings in Silent Storm make the game so much better, or in-game physics that make HL2 so cool)

well, how is it this particular engine (which for all appearance is just Diablo with albeit sharper graphics) any better than Morrowind or KOTOR? If you mean the iso viewpoint, I believe it's totally possible to have iso viewpoints in KOTOR and Morrowind too.

besides, all these 3 games feature real time combat. so all 3 are hardly suitable candidates for a FO3.

I dunno. this game looks lame. the PC just run around, shoot, then run around avoid getting hit, then shoot somemore. It's so... diablo, which i hate with a passion. And what's with the explotable barrels doing there anyway? do they even have a reason to be there???

FO3 with the RA artists, perhaps. The art content is damned nice, if it were a little more streamlined art deco but with the same style, it'd be damned nice.
