There's a new dev diary preview dealie about The Fall on RPGVault. It's all about how to make land look like Texas and where bushes go, and about this:

The level designer also is in charge of the construction of the interiors. And once again, certain requirements provided by the game designers have to be taken into consideration. Rooms have to fit to the characters that are living there and not feel out of place. They also have to suit the story context. If, according to the background, a village just was plundered by a gang, the actual condition of the location has to reflect the plot. It would be strange to find tidy rooms full of food or valuable equipment at such a place then, wouldn't it?

Maybe they're a plundering gang of housekeepers. We've come for your dustbunnies!

PS. Does anyone think this kind of thing is getting played out by now? There's only so many times you can have a designer talk about how bushes are places on landscapes before it becomes uninteresting.

Yes, it's getting kind of boring although I like the idea of roaming through a freshly plundered village, especially if I were there before when it wasn't plundered.

I liked RPGVault's series of Riftrunner and later Beyond Divinity "Peeks of the Week" that ran for well over a year. They started discussing crap like rendering mushrooms for the underground levels in the game engine and it suddenly occured to me that RPGVault must be desperate for content.
