Well, speaking of ironing out the problems with <A href="http://www.sacred-game.com">Sacred</a>, it looks like they're doing just that. <a href="http://www.ascaron.de/">Ascaron</a> has just released the <a href="http://eng.sacred-game.com/news.php?s=&action=show&news_id=204">third 1.7 open beta patch</a>. Here's a list of the fixes:
<br>
<br>
<blockquote><b>Fixlist</b>
<br>
- fixed numerous issues causing items to dissapear
<br>
- fixed an issue causing SC characters to become HC
<br>
- fixed a freeze caused when starting a game
<br>
- fixed numerous issues with Horse
<br>
- fixed "ghost" items not being displayed properly due to lag
<br>
- fixed several exploits
<br>
- changed HP of some foes by reducing them and increasing Resistances
<br>
- changed EXP gained in the different difficulty levels
<br>
- changed spells as outlined in fixlist in the beta forum
<br>
- changed calculation for stun spells (now: 0.4 x playerlevel + 5 x spell level > foe level for it to work). If it is a boss then the foe gains a x1.3 level bonus.
<br>
- fixed several issues causing the Dragon fire not to be displayed
<br>
<br>
<b>Balancing changes</b>
<br>
<br>
Vampiress
<br>
- Ajusted the amount of damage the Vampiress takes during the day so that the Vampirism skill level needs to be 10 times as higher than the KK Vamp form in order to stop her from taking damage...
<br>
This is to stop continues use of the Vamp form.
<br>
<br>
<b>General Changes</b>
<br>
- Giant Spiders are now all Bosses (Except Quest Spiders)
<br>
- Shaddar Riders now give 50% more EXP
<br>
- Increased EXP Bonus depending on difficulty level (to make leveling more interesting at higher server levels)
<br>
- Changed in HP and Resistances to various foes. </blockquote>
<br>
<br>
Shaddar Riders definitely needed to give more experience. Those things were way too powerful for what they gave.
<br>

Well, I won't deny that Sacred has a LOT of problems. We've discussed them here. It's not a HORRIBLE game, but there's a lot of things that seriously need work in it. Still, you have to hand it to Ascaron for supporting this title the way they are. They're still patching the game, AND we're getting a free expansion pack and one commercial one. That's more than a lot of developers are willing to do.

Its a horrible, mindless repetitive game. No offence to Ascaron they may support the game like no other dev. before and feed hungry kittens in africa but the game is still terrible.

Any expansions are just more of the same mindless and repetitive areas over and over again like a taste of hell. I really dislike this game.

If you like it, kudos to you. But no amount of ribbons and candy canes are going to get me to like this pile of festering manure called sacred.

Strait, relax. It's not the best game - but I certainly played it for quite a few hours before I tired. And as for there being expansion packs - both free and not, must be due to Ascaron believing people will want it - and pay for it. So everyone can't share your opinion obviously. Will I buy it? No, but that's not the point.

I'm still holding off on playing Sacred until there's a way to make things you done gone and killed stay dead. Or at least stay dead for quite a while. I hate endlessly respawning enemies.

Has the respawn rate been tweaked yet in any of the patches?

Ive seen some reviewers that i would respect given Sacred some pretty decent comments but i cant see the appeal myself. I played it for a few days and got really bored with it... i would have stopped playing it after a few hours but all the good reviews had me believing the gameplay is gonna start just after the next quest. I mean its terrible, its Diablo 2, in a bigger game world with lower production values. I guess alot of people who know better are so starved for good rpgs these days their willing to lower their standards. I might eat shit if theirs nothing else to eat, but you still gotta accept your eating shit.

The respawn rate isn't that bad in the actual game. Once you do some quests in the town, you'll hear something like, "This area has been secured" coming from your character. That means that the respawn rate has been cut by 80-90%. The respawning creatures thing isn't noticable if you do the quests in town, really.

My problem was more with the balance of the game, specifically between main story plot points. You'll be cleaning house in an area, move on to the next plot point and find yourself getting your ass totally kicked - even though you've been clearing areas and doing all the quests you can find. About the only solution to this is repeatedly clearing out cave locations OR teleporting from town to town hitting up all the shops to buy yourself some uber gear because drops alone don't really cut it. Hell, you have to teleport from town to town to hit up shops for health potions because the shops only have 2-7 health potions each time they restock.
