Most likely, that's placeholder art. We're talking about a couple of guys who are just working on this in their free time. So far, it looks pretty nice.

I bet whoever 'contributed' those portraits didn't tell them what game those portraits were from.

I doubt that. If they're making a dungeon crawler generator I bet they've played Wizardry 8 back and forth a hundred times.
