There's a fairly decent <a href="http://www.invisibledream.com/reviews/pc/qin/">review</a> of <a href="http://www.princeofqin.com/">Prince of Qin</a> over at <a href="http://www.invisibledream.com/">Invisible Dream</a>. They give the game a score of 80%.

<blockquote>"If you’re looking for a unique, action-packed role-playing game, then this would certainly be a PC game to consider. If you’re looking to battle werewolves, zombies, and other ghoulish beasts, then perhaps you might want to look into RPGs with the Dungeons and Dragons stamp of approval. Combined with nice graphics, an interesting storyline, a very awesome soundtrack, and pure Diablo-like action, Prince of Qin should be placed among the ranks of Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale. I would definitely advise that you check out the demo first before buying this game just in case the historical aspect hits too close to home."</blockquote>

I *will* pick a copy of this up soon....

Should be placed among the ranks of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale?
That's some advertisement!

The setting seems unique, the graphics seem similar to Diablo 2.
I can't quite make out the gameplay though. Diablo style with teams?
Tactical combat?

Bah Diabloesque garbage.

The single player game is nothing like Diablo. In fact, it's a hell of a lot less combat focused than the majority of CRPGs that have come out this year. It's got far less combat than NWN, Morrowind, Divine Divinity, and so on.

Most of the quests, especially those in town, are noncombat. Some actually make use of your Charm attribute, allowing you to influence, or not, people in to doing things you need them to do. Some are FedEx quests, but are done in a very nice manner that's on theme with the game, like the quest where you have to help a kid fix a piece of embroidery his mother gave him before she died.

In fact, Prince of Qin is a prime example of why most game review sites have their heads lodged firmly up their asses. Case in point, there was one review of the game that said, "For something that tries to be a Diablo clone, there's not much action." The reviewer who made that statement should have stopped to think about it before it ever got typed, because if the game doesn't have a lot of action, it shouldn't be considered a Diablo clone in the first place.

For a game that tries very hard to emulate Wolfenstein 3d, it makes for a very poor clone. Why, it doesn't even have a first person mode. What kind of a crappy Wolf3d clone is this anyway?
