According to Develop, Interplay has revealed in an SEC document that the beloved studio might be back to the boxes sooner rather than later.

“We currently have some obligations that we are unable to meet without generating additional income or raising additional capital,” Interplay said.

“If we cannot generate additional income or raise additional capital in the near future, we may become insolvent or be made bankrupt or may become illiquid or worthless.”

Interplay, which also develops games internally, reported a net loss of $1 million in 2010, along with a stockholders’ deficit of $2.8 million and a working capital deficit of $2.8 million.

Additional financing is needed to fund current operations, the firm said.

“However, no assurance can be given that funding can be obtained on acceptable terms, or at all,” it added.

“These conditions, combined with the company’s historical operating losses and its deficits in stockholders’ equity and working capital, raise substantial doubt about our ability to continue as a going concern.”

Interplay said it is spreading its bets to secure external funding, and is prepared to accept “a sale or merger of the company”.

So who's up for buying Interplay? We could have Prosper pump out Earthworm Jim sequels while the rest of us work on FallDex: A Post-Tacticular Role Playing Game & Tranny Dating Sim.

Thanks to thesheeeeeeep

I recon Herve should put the rights to that Fallout MMO on the market. It must be worth a pretty penny, about now. :smug:

They should just die with dignity. It is inevitable, so why are they prolonging their suffering. Just announce bankrupcy, and move on people.

All that money from the sale of the Fallout rights...even Lionheart 2 would have made them more money than their stupid attempt at an online Fallout.

I'm just hoping for some kind of legal loophole quagmire that makes it possible for Interplay to fuck over Bethesda on everything regarding Fallout.

And then Interplay goes bankrupt as it should've way back when.

And then a mysterious group of shadow-cowled people take posession of the Fallout IP, whispering about Incline and No More Years Of Popamole!

And then a magical rainbow unicorn shits gold on each and every one of us.

The end.
