This being an Infinity Engine game, the graphics are more than a little dated. The reality is, the engine hasn't improved much since it's original incarnation, and it shows. Characters and enemies are rendered in 3D, as are interactive objects and spell effects. The special effects are decent, but the characters and enemies could use some work, as they are quite bland. All the action takes place on hand-drawn 2D backgrounds, which are gorgeous and highly detailed. You can tell that a great amount of work was put into the background drawings, they are some of the best I've ever seen. Unfortunately, the 2D backgrounds are not without their limitations. It can be rather difficult to locate objects, doors, and containers at times, and there is no camera rotation because everything is pre-rendered. Ultimately, the graphics aren't the focus but it may put off some potential players. It is here that the Infinity Engine shows its age the most: it really is time for a change.

Don't you just love it when reviewers don't bother checking their facts? I know I do!
