Worthplaying has posted their review of Knights of the Old Republic 2, showering it with much love and a 9.5/10 score. Here's a bit of the beast:

Eventually, at a pivotal point in the story, you will be asked to choose your prestige class, which can be thought of as "getting your Master's degree" in the Force. Depending on your alignment with the Force, you can choose to be a Sith Assassin, Lord or Marauder, or the goody-goody guys can choose to be a Jedi Master, Watchman, or Weapon Master. Your choice here will also affect how quickly your skills, feats and Force powers progress.

I've wondered this for a while, but anyone know if there's an actual difference between the Jedi prestige classes and the Sith ones or is it just a naming thing?

Sith Marauder gets a Rage-like ability (one of the loading screens says that), Sith Lord gets Dark Side Corruption.

Edit: Apparently, there are other feats like Ignore Pain, Increase Combat Damage for Marauders, etc

The state of insanity.
Yeah, VD is right. They all have different force powers that are unique to their class. They're usually just one or two, but they have their differences. Not that it really makes much of a difference in the way combat plays out though since the engine is so limited.

Do you start with the base jedi classes from the first game, or do you have to start with the scoundrel/scout/soldier classes?

By the by, I've mentioned this before, but I'm replaying KotOR, and even after the most recent patch, it is still incredibly buggy.

i know you didnt ask it, but id also like to mention that you dont even have to take a prestige class, assuming you remain neutral throughout.

just a bit of useless information for anyone who is dead set against taking a prestige class.

Sith Lord also gets the most overpowered force power in the game. FORCE CRUSH. pretty much lifts your enemy off the ground and crushes him to death. mostly better for 1 on 1 type battles but if you're quick on the trigger you can cycle through to the next enemy and lift him off his ass too.

All the dark side prestege classes get that. Light side all get Force Enlightenment.
