Breaking news! Wasteland 2 is about to get an official clothing and accessories line. Want that stylish ranger belt with a ranger buckle? You got it! (Only $199.99.)

InXile and J!NX to create clothing and accessories line based on Wasteland 2

Newport Beach, CA - September 25, 2012 - InXile Entertainment today announced an exclusive clothing and accessories line with the premier name in gaming and geek clothing. J!NX creates the clothing for the biggest franchises in the industry such as World of Warcraft, Minecraft, League of Legends and Portal 2.

Wasteland 2 is a highly anticipated Role-Playing Game that was recently fan funded via Kickststarter for approximately 3 million dollars.

"We are excited to be in such great company with the other games that J!NX represents and for the quality product they produce," said Brian Fargo. "Wasteland 2 has a distinct visual look that lends itself perfectly to apparel."

“As a long-time fan of Wasteland, and a day 1 backer on the Wasteland 2 Kickstarter, I couldn’t be more psyched to be working together with a legendary designer like Brian Fargo and his crew at InXile," said Sean Gailey, Co-founder and CCO of J!NX.

Good to know that our KS money goes to the right place.

Sounds more like a way to make more money, not spend it, to be honest.

Well it depends. If they only make enough to meet the needs of what they promised for the kickstarter and a small extra amount to sell on the side, it could make some money. If they decide to make lots because OMG the kickstarter did so well, then they could lose lots because most people probably don't want Wasteland 2 the swag, they want Wasteland 2 the game.

Can you sell t-shirts to hyped hipsters on Jinx and still release a classical, hardcore RPG they'll probably hate?

Just realized Bee made up the $199.99, it's not in the press release. :M

Just think about your own original W2 ranger hat!

Not sure how I feel about introducing a game like WL2 to the casual hipster nerd-chic people who feel compelled to flaunt their graphic tees as a halfhearted attempt at flamboyant expression of consumer loyalty. Franchising already? I had hoped we'd at least get to Wasteland 3 before that happened.

You guys seem so certain "hipsters" and other trendy people will buy this stuff. They're of course never even going to be aware of this. This fashion initiative is an obvious failure, since the game is marketed to an oldschool crowd.

Good of Fargo for thinking of getting money without hampering development though.

Precisely. Skyrim is too mainstream, cool is the sequel to a pre-historic RPG that they never heard about before, that is "the father of Fallout 3" and was created through crowdfunding, foiling evil corporations... how the game actually plays is completly irrelevant to that matter.

Do you really believe that every person with a "vintage" Atari, Space Invader or Oregon Trail t-shirt has any idea of how they play? That people that bought Breath of Death/Cthulhu save the World really missed old-scholl jRPGs?
