It's seems odd a game that originally set out to be revolutionary ends up a conventional action adventure with some peripheral curiosities. Still, the action works for the most part, the production values are top-notch and it has a certain charm. It's certainly a pleasant world to spend time in but the lack of real choices and short, easy gameplay may leave seasoned players feeling unsatisfied.

Hats are revolutionary. No games have those!

How is it odd? That happens to every game nowadays. Especially RPGs. I thought everyone was used to it now.

Edit: Dhruin, it's Oakvale not Oakdale. I can see how he got it confused. It's not like they mention the city name many, many times.

Damn, I knew that carton of Oakdale chocolate milk would be my undoing. :D

Well I guess it's a good thing I haven't gotten Fable yet. The first two pages of the Lionhead boards are filled with bugs (BAD bugs) coming from people with all kinds of video cards and all kinds of systems.

Now, I just need to wait for the patch.

Sure, but most devs are smart enough to say their game is unbelievably good but stop shortof promising the best RPG evar!! I know Molyneux apologised but he must have been on drugs. ;)

Molyneux is always on drugs.

You just have to take everything he says with a grain of salt... and a shot of whisky.

Barring Peter and his wild hype practices, most games (and pretty much every RPG now especially) promises to "redefine the genre" and be "revolutionary". Personally, I've just gotten used to it... even to the point where I'm sick of hearing it.

Again, I don't see how is it odd that a game falls short or even unbelievable short of how the developers hyped it.

Project Ego had a lot on interesting ideas.

Problem is that such ideas would be hard to implement now, the Xbox is far more limitated and it was a incredible stupid move (or huge display of ego) to try to create such a system on a console, even in a PC it would be very dificult.

I see a difference between falling short of promises and not having the faintest sign of those promises at all. If you disagree, it's not like the whole article hinges on that one premise.

For what it's worth I played through the game and only experienced one bug - a CTD early on in the tacked on bit at the end.
