you are right. the bride of frankenstein hair, the incredibly thin composure, the skull being recognizable through the skin, the dark reddish eyes, the dirty, torn, and seemingly rotten clothing, and the clawlike fingers totally scream not-undead!

A wight’s appearance is a weird and twisted reflection of the form it had in life. A wight is about the height and weight of a human.

Wights speak Common.

COMBAT
Wights attack by hammering with their fists.

Create Spawn (Su): Any humanoid slain by a wight becomes a wight in 1d4 rounds. Spawn are under the command of the wight that created them and remain enslaved until its death. They do not possess any of the abilities they had in life.

Energy Drain (Su): Living creatures hit by a wight’s slam attack gain one negative level. The DC is 14 for the Fortitude save to remove a negative level. The save DC is Charisma-based. For each such negative level bestowed, the wight gains 5 temporary hit points.

Skills: Wights have a +8 racial bonus on Move Silently checks.

So this default Wight is pretty weak. With maxed HP (as it is in NWN2) it'll have 48.
It has 2 very interesting special abilities on hit. I adore when a monster is loaded with such abilities; it makes it unique.
It level drains and steals life (5 hp per level drained). Now, for lifesteal to be effective a creature must hit pretty often and have good AC. This default Wight has neither of those qualities. Very low AB/AC.. so I hope there will be some buffed up, high HD, boss Wights.

The other interesting ability is "create spawn". This rocks.. I wonder if it'll be implemented. There were 2 monsters in BG2/ToB that had this ability.

I sometimes do death matches with monsters and NPCs. 6 hostile humanoids which I had to battle against vs 6 demoniacs/undeads/monsters. I started doing it in BG.. Ah.. those wonderful death matches in BG.. humans were usually led by Tamoko and monsters by Sirine Queen. :D

Having red eyes, claws and being thin makes you undead?
Well, Jasede could dress like that and that wouldn't make him an undead creature.

Spoiler alert: :P

DC Result

15 This walking corpse with malevolently burning eyes is a wight. This result reveals all undead traits.

20 The mere touch of a wight drains energy from living creatures. A humanoid slain by a wight becomes one themselves soon after, enslaved to the wight that spawned it. Wights are incredibly stealthy and easily can sneak up on most creatures.

25 Although undead, wights are intelligent and can even speak.

Hey Anthony, do you, as a programmer, take part in throwing around ideas and concepts?

Sure, sometimes.

Bringing back Ribsmasher as a cohort was my idea, you can either love me or hate me for that.

There is another encounter in the game that was my idea, but I didn't have time to do it so Josh Sawyer picked it up and ran with it and it turned out pretty damn awesome.

Or don't care? :points at self: :)
No monks in my party.. thank you.

But I do care, on the other hand, about some other thingies...

You best be joking.
Sure I am.

If I have some archers/bowmen those guys make me happy.

That due looks familiar, is he from Heroes of Might and Magic or something similar?

Myth, the RTS. Great game.

I can still remember the games where I'd hear "Casualty. Casualty. Casualty. Casualty." and know that my grand plan was all going horribly wrong.

Myth, was that the RTS game with no reinforcements, but your dudes got experience?

Couldn't one type of unit place a satchel charge too? Dwarves I think...

That game ruled.

That's the one. The dwarves could throw bottles that could bounce and explode (with a touch of unpredictability) or lay charges. You had to keep your men alive if you wanted to avoid failure or a really rough ride. You'd get new unit rosters from time to time, but careful use of them was important. No turtling. No resource harvesting. Just tactics (and evil surprises).

I've played Myth 1 and 2 through a few times over the years now. It's nice to see that I can try different ideas the second time around or when I see how someone else solved a level their idea was not the same as mine. I expect it's partly that kind of thing that made it so much fun. The setting and story kept it interesting too. The journals (and cartoon animations) shown through the game were a nice touch.

The multiplayer was pretty good too. You can still play it online. The community has supported it well over the years. They've kept up yearly tournaments for about ten years. I believe there are still mods and updates released now and then (I think Bungie even gave them access to the source code as well as the mod tools they already had). Some of them convert the game to entirely different worlds, such as Vietnam or American Civil War eras. Such a shame that Myth 3 was a flop. I'd be more excited about a true sequel to Myth than Halo LXII.

Damn, I love the Wight.
Can we have a really powerful Wight in the game who's guarding something, like the tomb of his MALE lover, and is called Warden? But only if it has all the cool special abilities! :))

There's also a more powerful version of the wight called "slaughter wight":

Slaughter Wight: These are wights that have been specially touched by the dark gods, giving them a vicious hate for all life that far outclasses the normal undead's.

SLAUGHTER WIGHT CR 9
Always CE Medium Undead
Init +9; Senses darkvision 60 ft.; Listen +15, Spot +19
DEFENSES
AC 19, touch 15, flat-footed 14 (+5 Dex, +4 natural)
171 hp (18d12+54 HD)
Fort +6, Ref +11, Will +11
OFFENSE
Spd 30 ft. (6 squares)
Melee Slam +11 (1d8+15/17-20 plus energy drain)
Special Attacks Power Attack
STATISTICS
Str 24, Dex 21, Con -, Int 11, Wis 10, Cha 16
Base Attack +9; Grapple +16
Space 5 ft.; Reach 5 ft.
SQ Augmented critical, inescapable craving, undead traits, vicious slammer, Create spawn
Feats Daunting Presence (DC 22), Death Master , Eviscerator , Improved Critical, Improved Initiative, Life Drain
Skills Climb +17, Hide +22, Move Silently +22, Swim +13
SPECIAL ABILITIES
Augmented Critical (Ex): A slaughter wight is so practiced at dealing death that it has learned the trick of better aiming its blows to deal maximum damage. Coupled with its Improved Critical feat, a slaughter wight’s threat range for its slam attack is 17-20.
Create Spawn (Su): Any humanoid slain by a slaughter wight becomes a normal wight in 1d4 rounds. Spawn created by a slaughter wight are under its command and remain enslaved until their master’s destruction. They have the statistics of normal wights (see Monster Manual, page 255 ) and do not retain any of the abilities they had in life. Sometimes a newly created spawn becomes a slaughter wight instead of a mere wight, though the wiles of the dark gods determine such instances (that is, the DM decides when this occurs).
Energy Drain (Su): A living creature hit by a slaughter wight’s slam attack gains one negative level. Removing the negative level requires a DC 21 Fortitude save. The save DC is Charisma-based. When a slaughter wight bestows a negative level on a victim, it gains 5 temporary hit points (10 on a critical hit). These temporary hit points last for up to 1 hour.
Unholy Toughness (Ex): A slaughter wight gains a bonus to its hit points equal to its Charisma modifier x its Hit Dice.
Inescapable Craving: A slaughter wight has an inescapable craving for life force, which it satisfies by using its energy drain attack.

18d12 + 54 HD.
If this gets maxed...

I wonder if there will be some slaughter wights in SoZ?
Also, will there be some wights with stats in between the normal wight and the slaughter wight.. I mean, something moderate. Anthony?
