Yes thanks. What is "convert increase attempts" on my mage?

I'd advise against it. Spell Points are hard to come by, experiences are not.
Well right after I clicked "no" on "convert increase attempts", a new window opened asking me "convert 10 attempts on magic skills to astral points?". How the fuck do I know I didn't even start my adventure yet or look at the skill sheet man.

Also what would be a good spell school to focus on?
1. Less attempts to acquire more spells—or more powerful version of spells—and instead have more Astral Points. ----> I'd also say no that. Especially for first playthrough.

2. For Magicians: definitely Combat. Other must-have schools are are Healing (self-translating) and Movement (will save you a lot of pain during some adventure situations). Also don't forget you can have other spell-casters in your party, so don't spread your talents too thin. Specialize in only a few spells per character at first, then you'll see what's what.

On Clairvoyance and Transmutation: The former can provide some additional info about objects, creatures, situations, NPC's thoughts etc.—that's good because the game is kind of untoward with information in general—as you yourself have already seen during the character creation :D The latter has got some nice buffs, if you are into this sort of thing.

Other than that, I think it's purely optional. You could even go without Combat magic, and have, idk, a Skeletons and Demons summoning Dark-Wizard-Lord :D but I've always felt more inclined towards naturally damaging Wizards (sorry, Magicians here), so I've never tried other schools all that much.

Last but not least, Blade of Destiny is one of those games in which you can brick progress. It's rare, but it can happen. So, save into different files every now and then. I hope it's not much of a spoiler if I tell you that one of those moments can come if you don't have Melt the Solid or Freeze the Soft spells from the Transmutation school upgraded to at least few levels. Sorry, I don't remember which one was it in particular.
dunno about blade of destiny, but Melt the Solid is required at one point to progress in Star Trail

Yeah but... When I see how much my attack rating suffers. That sucks hard man. Might as well buy some leather bracers that have no penality and only a chainmail that loses some parry. Just go about it smarter. Money is so long no problem until I lose all my gear in a swamp again and I spend it all on some armor I can't use anyway.
Yeah but your fighters will get surrounded a lot and the heavy armor keeps them from getting chipped to death! I think I kept my elves and rogue in light armor and used mostly metal on the dwarf and fighter. Remember to bring an extra weapon for everyone too on adventures because they can break.

Yeah bro I even trained the fighters and rogue in unarmed combat for this. You have a lot of skillpoints anyway

Mate do you remember the quest with in the Brothel in Phexcaer? When I enter there I can ask for the Hyggelik's decendant. The brothel master fag tells me to meet me two houses north in 30 minutes. I went to the location that should be most likely it. I tried to enter directly, house is locked. I tried waiting, I tried breaking in. I tried going around. Nothing seemed to work. I don't even know if he means 30 ingame minutes or realtime.

Did you manage to do that quest by any chance? I restarted the quest now and measure the time.

Yeah so reading old German boomer forums I found out the meeting will never happen. Time to get my dick wet there and move farther south to Felsteyn

Man through some save game fuckery I just lost my first map fragment again. And the Unicorn

:negative:
I have to numerize the save games from now on or something, these short names cause a lot of confusion

jaekl Nikanuur bros I finally hit a level up. Which attribute should I raise as a Mage? Wisdom?
Not really sure I remember how Astral Points were calculated. Maybe jaekl knows better?
If I remember it correctly, in DSA it should've been Intuition, Wisdom, and Courage that govern Astral points.
As for the likelihood of casting the spell successfully, I advise you to look it up in the manual. Every spell has three checks against abilities, same as talents do.
E.g. Ignifaxus: WD/AG/DX

Does somebody know where I can find a alchemy set? I heard they are rare in this game. I have a recipe and for healing pots and tons of herbs on me!

I seem to recall trying it and then realising alchemy is a waste of time and inventory space. I can't remember the details though

I downloaded Dark Sun in the meantime, but something about Realms of Arkania pulls me always back into it, besides it clunky shitty controls and janky gameplay.

It is just really easy to feel the whole scope of the giant world and feel like you are on a grand adventure with your buddies. It works very good as an immersive sim. And everytime some textslides appear and something unique happens it's just so well written.

I actually really get addicted to it besides it flaws.

Yesterday night I wandered a bit far north and ran the first time into Brigades. I lost a bunch of people and foolishness ventured forth north after patching up a bit instead of going south and healing proper. In the end I came back out with my Maintank on 10% health, 4 unconcious and my Hunter dead. That's the best moments in games right?

How do I go about reviving my Trapper though?

I think you have to make donations to one of the temples (don't remember which one) and hope that god is feeling generous.

It worked. You pay 250 silver (25D) and pray for a wonder. It took me 4 times so 100D which is fine

Man is there no way to save before making your level ups? I don't even wanna save scum but doing 5 character in a row without a single missclick with this janky mouse is nerve wrecking

No in case of a level up you just get a text box and than you will be transfered into the level up screen. It does that will characters that have a level up until you can navigate the UI freely again. And during fights and traveling you can not save either, as far as I know.

Ok well, it's not that big a deal anyways. The stronger you get, the more points get wasted anyways. You can have a whole level where all your skill increases fail sometimes. You'll be ok.
