combat & graphics looks absolutely shit but that doesnt bother me that much...

...however:

1. will there be female NPCs/Companions in the game ?

2. can you romance some of them ?

3. if there s a no to question 1)... can we at least romance male NPCs ?

4. can i buy a house in the game and marry ?

5. how many different pretty clothing sets are there for my characters to dress up ?

6. can we buy furniture and pets for our house if 4 = yes ?

i m afraid this is gonna be just another shitty hack n slash after this combat video but if 3 or more of the above things are in i consider it a good RPG and will give it a try.

if you need help on the romances i have some my HD full of ideas and would gladly share them with you, just contact me at: Viconia4ever@hotmail.com

PS: is the game moddable easy enough ? for instance could SOMEONE (NOT me, i really find that sort of stuff disgusting - just an example ) make a nude patch ? of course i wouldnt download it, but if a nude patch is possible then even more modders could make more pretty clothing sets to play around with.

A hack and slash is the last thing it will be, I dare say that much. Neither is it a TES / SIMS style game with house decoration though.

Uhm, I understand that with the general stupidity of the internet and todays mainstream gaming audience its sometimes difficult to tell satire from genuine posts, but ricolikesrice was obviously joking...

(However having just come form the threads on the quarter to three and Obsidian forums, I may be excused)

Come on. How many people would actually take it seriously?

Upcoming award-winning?

Never trust a game that wins awards before it's even released.

So it is turn based and they were only poking fun at people who say turn-based is a thing of the past?

It's a tomb in a desert. We picked it to avoid distracting your attention from combat (flow, animation, speed, interface, etc). You will be given an opportunity to bitch about the landscape decorations in the near future.

That's reasonable, though I personally think you should take these early opportunities to show AoD as pretty as possible. I'm sure a not so small chunk of people loaded this video, not to look at the combat but to look at the graphics.

But to hell with them, I guess.

Wow. Two people took it seriously. What am I going to do now? :?

And 3 people in the same place are interested in the game. :)

I also looked at the screenshots and I have to say I'm far more optimistic than I was earlier. The guy definitely has a sense of humor and supposedly has a story he wants to tell. So, I'll try to remember to keep up to date on this.

All in all, I'm slightly hyped.

Yeah, this and Eschalon: Book I has piqued my interest on the Indie front. I like Jeff Vogel's games and all, but it's nice to play something new once in a while

Thanks. It took years of digging to come up with those two, but that heartfelt and honest-to-God 'Wow' makes it all worth it.

Two people took it seriously.
Or: two out of two people took it seriously, and then Jora dropped the bomb. Or: one of those two ran away and started a new AoD-thread in some other forum, without providing a link, with false information, before Jora dropped the bomb.

But it's your race. I'm just a-sayin'.

What am I going to do now?

Cry? Curse the day when sarcasm, irony and satire became the way for you to express yourself, which in turn lead to you almost losing the two potential drooling fanboys mentioned above? Happily continue with the same strategy since:

Anyway, we've got 260,000 hits, so it couldn't be that bad.

I hope, at least.
Indeed. Gay romances, buying houses and pets, viconia4ever email address.... Lighten up, Ghan.
Hey, if people like that wouldn't exist, there would be no Codex.

Anyways, any further PR stunts planned yet?

Just nitpicking: I think the crossbow firing animation should have more time devoted to aiming, as the rapid fire in the film looked a bit weird. But it's a small detail.

Couple of comments...

No sound effects? Or did you turn them off to let us enjoy the music?
No sound effects at the moment. It may change or it may not.
You definitely should. I can't imagine a game without combat sound effects at all. They don't have to be good, just something to let you know if you hit, dodged, absorbed damage or had a critical strike.

...

for a more serious reply:

the video has me interested and i ll freely admit to beeing half of a graphics-whore (which means while i force myself to and generally enjoy it for the gameplay.... old games kinda hurt my eyes and i never really bothered with the indie ones who look even worse then old games)

while i would lie saying it looks stunning, next gen or impressive.... it looks like it gets the job done and isnt half as bad as i d have expected before seeing that video. reminds me kind of NWN1 and i still play some of the very rare good SP modules for that game.

nothing much to complain about except for the things already said here and prolly beeing worked on ("faster running/pace"), loved the spear throwing, heck animation-wise the game looks almost better than NWN2 ^^

could be fun and for me personally the video turned AoD from "great ideas how a cRPG should be but unfortunately a shitty looking indie and not a mod for a better looking game" to "looks good enough to give it a try and hopefully be blown away by the gameplay."

Game = uber

PR = absolutely atrocious

I suggest shelving the irony and pointed comments, at least for people outside the Codex. Arent you a marketing manager as your desk job?

To put it simple, the game is another A to B with no story in between, gotcha. I won't be downloading. My questions were pertaining to what I should expect out of this future module, which isn't much or anything new. I'm getting the same thing I got in the official campaign, just in a different setting with a add-ons. Thanks for answering all my questions.

God, how much anger and frustration. I guess the guy needs all those romances in his RPG to make up for reallife shortcomings.
