Age of Decadence is an interesting game. I’d describe it as ‘Neverwinter Nights set in the decline of Rome’
:retarded:
There’s quite a few problems with this game. The first and most noticeable is the quality of the graphics- or lack thereof
:retarded:
Age of Decadence isn’t just ugly, however- the controls aren’t intuitive at all.
:retarded:
There are remarkably few indicators of what you should be doing, or of suggested skills for a given profession.
:retarded:
Unless you dumped stats into various skills, choosing the right dialogue choice simply doesn’t work
:retarded:
Once I actually adapted to the game, it wasn’t half bad. Less clunky than Neverwinter Nights for sure
:retarded:
Well, if you want a hardcore, heavy metal roleplaying experience
:retarded:
Otherwise, take a pass

My brain.

The camera seems magnetically drawn to the most obtuse angle possible (and even starts off there most of the time).

I've said it several times but it all fell on deaf ears. 3D CAMERA WILL FUCK YOU UP. NO GAME WITH EXCEPTIONS WITHOUT RESTRICTIONS. IMPOSE RESTRICTIONS. Nothing good has ever come out of extensive controls over camera. At the very least, you MUST provide camera control templates if you don't want player experience to be SHIT.

The original Homeworld had a good 3D camera system. It let you rotate the camera precisely wherever you wanted without it "bumping" into stuff or "coasting" to a slow stop. Instead of bouncing around, the game would simply replace the offending 3D model with a wireframe version of itself that you could see through to the other side.

To this day it's still awesome.

Couldn't find a screenshot of the effect in action. :(
