Okay, so I just found out that the build limit on outposts and ships isn't a set thing. By playing and winning games, you gain experience points (how many you get is determined on what you do in-game).

You can use these experience points to buy cards which allow you to ship different things and get different upgrades via your home city. Your home city becomes progressively more and more useful this way. I noticed two cards in particular, one increasing the number of outposts and another increasing the number of ships built.

The game rewards you for playing smart. How this will work online, and if it will, of course remains to be seen.

Good graphics, but I really didn't like the gameplay much. Same stuff, not an inch of improvement of balance, and no significant innovation whatsoever.
The ship battle animations are good, though. but that's abou it.
