Any games like Crusader: No Remorse/Regret?

Hallo, it's been a while now since I finished my last playthrough of both Crusaders, but I'm still wondering about one thing. Are there any other games following the same theme? That is, you are a super commando-infiltrator that goes into a target unseen and leaves with a HUGE EXPLOSION + massive bodycount?

Not looking for a game with similar gameplay per se because I'm p sure that would be even harder to find, but similar premises. Of course, gunporn and gore are not required but welcome ;)

What do you mean, "unseen"? I blasted my way through every level.

I would recommend Syndicate Wars, the best wanton destruction "sandbox" game ever created.

It's not particularly stealthy but who needs stealth when you can level entire cities with nuclear grenades and satellite rain.

Ah of course. Should probably play them again, especially since I never played No Regret that much back in the day; refused to work on my computer. Burning civilians to death was p. cool. :smug:

And a pox upon EA for turning Syndicate into another shitty console shooter.

Crusader's main theme and all the other soundtracks are Just. So. Damn. Awesome. And such a BADASS protagonist. And the graphics are so awesome. And the gameplay.

I remember back in the old days players and gaming magazines always complained about Origin making games that had too much demand on PC requirements. People complained that Wing Commander III required 16 MB of RAM to run smoothly. Now while we still have companies making games like Crysis that are made to push PC rigs once more, but sadly none of them have the same gameplay and fun anymore.:(

^ Except Crysis came out 5 years ago, what other games have really pushed the HW requirements since? Metro 2033 maybe, but other than that? Yeah.

Quite sad that so many years had passed but there is NONE even close to such game as Crusader.

Hundreds of employeers, millions of funds, but result is not even close, wtf.

Yeah I know it's necromancy but whatever.

Cold Zero - Last Stand is like that. Frontal assault is no option, just fill as much bodbags as you can before things went south.
If perspective don't play a role - Gorky Zero and Gorky02.
I need to play them someday, didn't replayed since Win98 reign.
And STALKER games of course.

U dun guffed.

Hatred is the closest I can think of (serious). You kill lots of people regardless of who they are and blow everything up while doing so.

Really, though, there's no game quite like Crusader. I keep wishing someone will reboot it in all this Kickstarter/old-games rehash craze.

Darth Roxor I just finished Meat Puppet, which is in a very similar vein to the Crusader games, and was dubbed "Crusader: No Y Chromosome" by Computer Gaming World at the time. Here's a scan of the Next Generation preview:

Honestly it's hell to track down a copy and get it working on Win10, and the game itself isn't very good. CGW gave it a pretty good score, but most others hit it with anywhere from 3 stars to 20 out of 100. I'm making a video on it now, just thought you might be interested as I searched "Crusader" and this thread came up.

How did you get it to run fats?

There's a Russian installer you can find linked in the comments to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYO6QLB8geA&lc=Ugwh-dZ0n4dQQbPFavF4AaABAg.8kFUhc5LDpZ9RM1ij0zXOI (after installing, make sure you swap the original .exe with the "patch" .exe and then run using the launcher).

There's also a version floating around on the internet by "thegamecollection" which bundles it with a pre-configured pcem. You need a very good processor to emulate pcem well.

I don't recommend it unless you absolutely love that kind of game though.

How edgy is it? Is there proper gore? I'm into iso shooters as long as they aren't limp dicked. Magazine scan looks promising.

Why not just post the link? This game is abandonware fats.

https://mega.nz/file/sP5SxBhD#1ByWc9UxMwh8VUzFFS5WWJHGI1h_E_gTJNHu8pc6UG8

"Abandonware" is not a real legal concept, more a de facto state of rights holders not knowing or not caring enough to follow up on it. I try not to be too laissez-faire with that stuff, especially when it's someone else on the line. People can and have reported those links to MEGA just for the sake of being dickheads.

Regarding content, "motherfucker", "fuck", and "bitch" are used frequently, I think there are a couple of verbal references to rape although the sound was too quiet to hear properly. Violence is typical 90s - exploding bodies, setting people on fire, eviscerations and such. According to mobygames it was put on the German censor list, though I don't know the exact reason. Probably because there's a level full of enemies that are meant to look like fetuses and toddlers you can throw into saw blades, blow up etc. The gore is very cartoonish.
