Any games like Crusader: No Remorse/Regret?

Regarding content, "motherfucker", "fuck", and "bitch" are used frequently, I think there are a couple of verbal references to rape although the sound was too quiet to hear properly. Violence is typical 90s - exploding bodies, setting people on fire, eviscerations and such. According to mobygames it was put on the German censor list, though I don't know the exact reason. Probably because there's a level full of enemies that are meant to look like fetuses and toddlers you can throw into saw blades, blow up etc. The gore is very cartoonish.
That's the stuff. Installing.

If you get it to work, be aware there's a random crash with the russian-installer version when transitioning between areas. I don't know the cause - sometimes you can go 3hrs with zero crashes, sometimes it happens twice in 20m. Get in the habit of saving regularly.

What was I smoking to recommend Stalker or Gorky games?

Anyway - what about Abomination Nemesis Project or Westboro?

No crashes but the levels are badly designed. My colon was detonated before I could find the boss in my first run. In my second I rushed to the boss but had no rockets to wreck his shit with and died within minutes. It's cool that you can set enemies on fire but haven't gotten far enough to judge it yet. Also the version you linked to was shit and didn't work so I got a working version.

The version I linked to works fine, I used it for the entire 2nd half of the game. I also ran the launcher in Win98 compatibility and was able to change resolution.

Brigador studio head said Crusader heavily inspired them and it’s their closest comparable game.

I have played Brigador too little and Crusader too long ago to evaluate. One thing I am sure of this, despite Brigador looking like a twin stick shooter, it is not at all.

Cybermercs plays pretty much like 'updated' Crusader / Diablo with guns, if that makes sense.

afaik it's also the first entry in the 'diabloclone' genre, I haven't been able to find any earlier games
also unique in that it's an actual diablo 1 derivative instead of diablo 2

Oh ho ho, you have no idea. This is a Korean game, and definitely not the first among Diablo clones, at least where it came from.

Doesn't count if it's in a language other than American.

Worked on your system but not on mine. The version I'm using also never crashes and didn't need any compatibility settings.

You probably didn't configure it correctly. That's why I made my channel, so I could bring these experiences to laymen such as yourself.

Or classical Cannon fodder, still, when I played it felt more like Crusader then Syndicate.

It features a lot more stuff, like melee combat, dual wielding weapons with separate controls for each hand, throwing weapons, bigger arsenal, more enemy types etc. There are 2 separate campaigns, the first one is your classic story mode, the other one is an arena with progression system, where you can get access to a lot of the things not featured in the first campaign, player classes, customization, weapons, enemies and some other unique things. There's even coop mode, the only problem that unlike Crusader the game is way too easy for it's own good, you can just stomp everyone with little effort, but at least unlike Crusader it controls well.
