You can add serials from vanilla and the expansions to unlock all the races, unless I am mistaken.

Download the raceunlocker(its legal) and find someone willing to lend you the cdkeys of the other games(any amount of people can use the same cdkeys to unlock races at the same time). Otherwise you need to have the other games installed for the game to allow you to add their races.

I'd love to play some compstomp, if only the soulstorm AI wasn't so utterly horrible. Even on Insane(when it gets inane resource advantages) it's a joke that only survives past the 5 minute mark because it spams turrets in its base. Dark Crusade AI was so much more potent.

And yeah, More BRO's to the slaughter!

Imagine if we could get 8 people to join for a Free for all, would be haevan.

Dark Crusade is the last good DoW game.

Soulstorm is something you need to put online for free as a mod so it will get lost among all other ones. Jeez let's add flying units and fuck up a game which was balanced for ground combat for years and then add shitty low detail maps that have one of their half mirrored and call it an addon to DoW.

This can only have come from a guy who didn't play the game.

Dark Crusade 1.2 had bad balance (better than 1.0, tough). Necrons were overpowered, Eldar was (and still is, but with the buff to the weaker races, it's less noticeable) ridiculous. Space Marines and the Guard were laughably underpowered.

Soulstorm, along with the fliers (which don't fly, they hover on air, which was the main complaint on the game forums), brought balance changes, and the new races are balanced too, unlike DC 1.0, when some players, seeing a Necron opponent just quit the game.

I've been watching replays of SoulStorm, trying to learn how to beat Jaedar, and NONE of them so far have been won solely because of the fliers. In some replays, the fliers don't even appear.

Also, I would like to add, all ranged units can shoot air units. Retarded, yes, but unbalanced? No.

I already said this in this thread but, Skyway, as usual, just likes spitting bile all over the place.

The game balance is not perfect, but it's better than DC, that you can bet.

Personally, I think the major problems with SS balance is the retardation of the pathfinding which makes it really hard to approach any kind of range mass with superior range to your own units. Especially if your squads get knockbacked into each other and try to reform their formations.

As for DoW2, coop is just like singleplayer except you have someone to chat with during the boring bits and you can focus on controlling to squads. The Last stand is pretty kewl, but the last waves are really difficult. I've never even come close to beating the final wave.
