I've yet to see a reason why either of these is worth it versus the $5 or so you can get the entire Infinity Engine collection.

Wake me when this supports every single mod I use.

Wait... You are actually serious?

Eh... yes? Of course? Why would I even consider this before I can play with essential mods?

Why would consider this at all?

The new structure is easier to mod - it requires no ToBEx and more things are possible to do. That means that future mods with actual cool functionality might be available in the future. Like I said in the original BG:EE thread, complete mod functionality along with new mods is the only thing that could make me switch.

With BG2:EE, this looks much more realistic than with the original.

Still, I'm not holding my breath...

I feel like I've missed something, since I haven't been playing attention to the EE remakes. Why do a lot of people dislike them, other than the high price?

Incompatability with mods and extra bugs. In essence, there's not much enhanced about BG:EE, and while BG2:EE is better, there is still no reason to use it until it supports essential mods, and even then, the price-tag makes it a dubious investment.

The sole reason to buy BG:EE/BG2:EE is for people who have no friends with modding ability and who can't figure out how to use mods themselves.

That's a little extreme. You could also buy it ironically.

I think you meant moronically. No irony in buying a crappy overpriced product.

Apart from the new NPC's and their quests, did Beamdog actually add any new content that wasn't available through existing mods?
Does anybody know any sales figures for BG1:EE? I think BG1:EE will outperform BG2:EE, since at least they included the BG2 engine and additional supported resolutions. There's no single big improvement this time around.

There could be irony if you were to buy it as an attempt at displaying how you weren't a moron for buying it, as you were only buying it 'ironically'. Ironic attempt at irony (with capacity for exponential increase) = INFINITE irony!!!

If you consider ironic to mean "opposite of expectation", then an ironic attempt at irony would be a double-negative and cancel itself. So the opposite of being ironic would be to not be ironic at all. Of course, this assumes irony is subject to Aristotelian binary logic.

They're selling this for the same price as Age of Decadence? Guess which one I'm going to buy. :smug:
