A deep combat system and RPG elements are definitely not a contradiction. In fact they might even go together as AoD shows.
Then again AoD is an rpg, HBS has said numerous times that this isn't and won't ever be an rpg, it's a strategy game.

So I prefer for them focus on the strategy elements instead of adding unnecessary rpg elements.

Even better with HBS' diversity/lgbt agenda.

Now I know why all the women looked like men. A game full of SJW nonsense? No thank you.
I think their design is appropriate for the situation. Making mercenaries look somewhat rugged makes sense to me. I seriously doubt SJW's had anything to do with that.

It's not just that the women look "rugged" it's also the number of women they showed in comparison to men. In the US only around 15% of the military are women and the majority of those 15% serve in administrative roles, and that's in a country that constantly pushes for "diversity".
This game reeks of Cultural Marxism.

That analogy doesn't work when you are talking about giant mech pilots in space fighting for medieval like houses/families/dynasties that span light years.

But yeah, from the books alone you get a feeling that men vastly outnumber women in the setting.

And how is that relevant?

I'm not familiar with the setting, it's just an observation based on the video. Besides even if the setting is reasonable that does not necessarily mean that the video game will be the same, SJWs have a tendency to warp things to fit their ideology. Hey maybe I'm just being paranoid, we'll just have to wait and see.

It means shut the fuck up. Your final statement also deserves such a response.

And why should I "shut the fuck up"? Enlighten me.

Grab the Codex by the pussy
Which honestly I think is a good direction for them (if they can pull off a decent to good combat system).

There already is a good combat system available for BattleTech settings, commonly known as "BattleTech."

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that they won't be using the actual tabletop mechanics for this one, either.

It doesn't matter how simple and straightforward the TT mechanics are, they still need to be dumbed down for videogame crowd. Specially nowdays when all TB games must be XCOM.

I don't know why the U.S. numbers would be anyway relevant to this discussion. Try Israel.

Because the US has the highest military spending in the world and because the game is American so I thought to use it as a reference.
Israel is a special case, they need all the manpower they can get.

Also you tell me you don't know why the U.S. numbers would be relevant to the discussion yet you think a small middle-eastern country is? How is Israel relevant? I know you were trying to make a point but still...

I may be a bit rusty in BT lore, but I would assume what I emphasized in your quote applies to the noble houses of BT houses precisely. And, indeed, that is why I believe Israel is a more fitting example. In fact, after several centuries of warfare, they have all but depleted most of their resources, both material and those related to human capital.

A somewhat unrelated tidbit: One of the best, if not the best mech pilot of BT lore, was female http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Natasha_Kerensky. The background story for her was written already in the mid 80s, long before this SJW nonsense.

- Or coud it be that BT has been on the forefront of that movement alread back then? :martini:

Like I said I'm not familiar with the setting but if that's true and the game sticks to the lore then that's reasonable enough. It's not the first time I've seen such a setting in which countries/humanity has been at war for such a long period of time that the manpower reserves become depleted and the drafting starts to apply not only to women but also adolescents as well.

At the very least it all sounds reasonable and pragmatic enough (if the reason is indeed a lack of manpower), something modern SJWs are not known for. I wouldn't be surprised if the creation of the setting was influenced by feminism though, but it would have been the less insane version of the 80s not the current variant.
