A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Dude, he'll be sorely disappointed when he tries to insert Amiga or C64 disks into his system. Please good advice only!

Summoning the power of autism I was able make 4 plug-n-play DOSbox packages with working nested menus arranged according to genre.
Most games should run on your potato, OP. You'd only run into slowdown with late-stage 3D DOS games.

Since FPS's are not that time consuming, here's some classics:
Doom 1 and 2
Quake 1 and 2
Blood
Duke 3D
Shadow Warrior
Heretic
Hexen 1 and 2
Star Wars: Dark Forces and Jedi Knight
The guys have already listed some of the RPGs above.

Thanks, using the list, and seeing what I have stashed away on Steam and GOG (Or is freegames) I am installing

Installing

RPGs

BG 1+2
ToEE
Planescape: Toment
Betrayal at Krondor
Arcanum

FPS

Quake I and II
Unreal T.

Others

Open TTD
Nethack
ADOM
Rule the Waves 3

That should keep me playing for a while. Some of the other games I will have to check out since I never played them before (Knights of the Chalice, Might and Magic), and the gold boxes I will have to pick up at some point in time as they will have nostagia for me.

Prob will do Arcanum or BG 1 +2 first, then onwards to ToEE.

Back in the day when I had a potato PC I would play Warcraft 3 custom maps because I couldn't play anything better.
When I met people online with better PCs I asked them why? There are so many games with amazing graphics that they could play.
They never answered.
Later on when I grew older and bought a proper current Gen PC, I started playing these games I always wanted but... I noticed they're boring as fuck and I found myself playing Warcraft 3 again anyway. The exact same custom maps, only later versions.
Until one day, somebody asked me the exact same question. It was surreal. I couldn't answer.

There's some truly terrible advice being given in this thread because some of the RPGs that have been suggested are so good that op will be spending all of his time engrossed in them and completely forget about his poor mother!

Shame on you guys!

Daikatana. It will make you want to take care of your mother instead of playing, which is what you should be doing in the first place.

Eventually I might make it a linux dual boot, but it does what I need it to do right now. Browse the web, play old games, and be in the same room as my mother while she watches her TV programs/youtube.

Linux gaming does work, but sometimes it can be quite fustrating.

Sanctuary RPG: Black Edition

Baldur's Gate 1/2. I suggest using Tutu, if you own both games.

Neverwinter Nights 1, official and unofficial modules.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura

The above are all in the RPG genre. For other genres, give these a try:

Swat 3

Nosferatu: Wrath of Malachi

Mafia

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

Alien Shooter + expansions

Crusader: No Remorse

Crusader: No Regret

The Battle for Wesnoth

Xenonauts

Tropico Reloaded

Blackthorne

The 90s. The golden age. PC & PS1 in particular for the absolute best, but also other forms of gaming (other consoles, arcade, handheld).

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Gothic, Gothic II and finally the Chronicles of Archolos. These will give you about 200h of fun (Gothic 30h, Gothic 2 50h, Archolos 120h).

Wut. He absolutely can. Unless I am missing some joke here or something (your .jpg link is broken).

I used to emulate PS1 on a garbage budget notebook from like 2010, similar specs to what's listed here.

Yeah, sorry. I was thinking of later console generations.
