Bill Roper of Flagship Studios was one of the key speakers at D.I.C.E. summit where he discussed "Why Carrots Are Better Than Sticks". GameSpy posted an article outlining Bill's presentation.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Roper's talk was how effortlessly he was able to explain his views on game design and how simple and obvious his concepts came across. It was consistently mentioned by attendees as one of the best presentations of the show (though, to be fair, almost all of them were good); if nothing else, makes us a little more anxious to see what Flagship is up to. Little info on their initial product has been released as of yet, but it sounds as if they could be signing on with a publisher soon, so we'll be sure to see what Roper and co. do next.

Yep, we're all curious to see what Bill will come up with next.

Common, aren't you a little bit curious? It doesn't mean you have to like it. From the features point of view Diablo 2 had everything that could be done with an action RPG, so naturally I'm curious what Bill can think of that will top D2 and possibly, if the rumors are true, D3.

Consideirng I haven't even played D2 at all; I can safely assume I'm not worried about him topping that game.

I'm more interested in Vampire and how that turns out so I cna be proven wrong than what the Diabloites are up to.

You're missing out then. You can probably pick up the Diablo Battlechest for $30 these days, and it's well worth it just for Diablo 2 and the expansion pack to Diablo 2.

From wat I've seen and heard; D2 is more of D1 but more combat options and even more geared ofor on line play. I have one on line game and that's enough. And, this on line game can be played with action oriented servers or role-playing ones. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed D1 for what it was; but D2 just doesn't offer enough for me.

I'm not too sure about this. That Arcanum was a better game is probably a fact (barring it's atrocious rules design), but this in-itself is not a reason to write off Bloodlines considering that there aren't too many RPGs of great expectation this year.

How about the facts that it has been advertised as action-rpg; heavy on the action, it';s mostly 1st eprson with a lame 3rd person vie designed to please those like me but won't, the fact that the Vampire system itself is overrated, and the story premise sounds weak. Lots for me to dislikeabout the game sof ar.

Now, don't get me wrong, I may be wrong, and when I eventually buy it (either after hearing some solid and good reviews) and in the abrgain bin; I hope I'm proven wrong but I wont hold my breath.

The story premise? Do you know something I don't? I've heard about the starting point for the game, but not anything about the actual story yet... (though theres a few things I can guess at).
