It will be published REAL soon... but in Russia. No idea about international release.
And well, since devs admit that publisher pressed very hard on them to release the game faster, you may want to wait for a few patches anyway :). (It becomes a 'good' tradition).
And I think, besides lack of really funky special effects (like 3.0 shaders we don't really need in such a game), E5 has very pretty grafics and nice animation. I expecially love player and weapon models - you can zoom all the way in, and they still look fabiilous (btw, in demo 6.01+ you can press E for 'First person view emulation').

Btw, new patch is out. Adresses a few crashes, and a LOT of changes with grenades (they use proper physics, have been tweaked to do more damage at closer range due to shockwave + fragments scatter in a more realistic way) + AI will throw them 'on sound' when sure, and more often too.

It will also changes most bitmaps with Russian text into English, so it's nearly full english version now.

Just as a side note, feature from the game:
"Enemies can scare players by throwing unarmed (w/o pulling the ring first) grenades - they do this when it's required to make the player flee, but cannot simply throw the grenade because it may hurt them or their comrades."
I wonder if AI in any other game is capable of such? Nah.

And the player would think: wow, the enemy has thrown a grenade that will kill both of us! I'm scared!.

or

Unless the enemy is suicidal, this can't be a ready-to-explode grenade.

Who said player can see enemy when he sees a flying grenade? Enemy do this to force player waiting for them around a corner to leave his position.

I'm proud to announce the E5 hit the Russian stores and people are happily playing away right now :).
By the way, since 1C bought Senega publishing, release in Eastern eaurope may be real close, too.
Some people from Bear's pit are even ordering the game online from Russia.

Actually, no idea. I'm not one of developers - just a beta-tester.
And for the patch... well, there are a LOT of changes, too numerous to count.
Most of them include stability, physics (expecially grenade physics), and greatly improved AI.
AI in E5 is the only one that surprised me and got me swearing because of it's smarts, not because of it's dumbness.
It's use of grenades and flanking manuevers is simply superb.. you really have to plan your tactics beforehand, or you'll find yourself surrounded and showered with grenades... with predictable result.
Just don't set 'dumb enemies' option on.

Btw, some enemies are dumb by default - like some bandits, for instance... I mean, they will use simplest 'rush' tactics most of the time, will not use cover, etc... like it's supposed to be, actually. They are bandits, not spec-ops.

Fighting in towns with an army of the enemy faction is a real tactical challenge, expecially when they'll be equipped in armor, and start sporting sniper rifles and grenade launchers.
Btw, read some posts on Bear's Pit Brigade E5 thread.
Sooner got his hands on Russian version of the game and now writes combat reports from Palinero :).
It's really interesting read, btw.

I played through the demo when you (or was it one of the devs?) originally posted this topic and so am wondering if there have been enough changes in the newest version to make me try it again. Are there any new weapons and equipment, improved graphics or somesuch?
Any idea where could I find a full list of changes without having to download the demo?

Well, no new weapons and eq, and graphics stays the same, that's for sure.
If AI, stability and other gameplay changes are not enough for you... *shrugs*.
And for the list of changes... hmm... there is one, but I doubt that you can find one in English.
Do you know Russian?

Maybe (and thats a big maybe) if it was written phonetically in latin letters (or spoken...), cyrillics make my eyes bleed

Nevermind, I'll grab the demo, not that I have a whole lot of other similar games to play.
