Sure, they also send a hooker to give you a blowjob.Jasede said:So you get the map and such also when you download EE? Do they sent the extra things in the EE box to you?
Jasede said:They are charging for what other companies release as a patch; for example Blizzard.
Jasede said:however what is also true is that CD Projekt is hyping the patch as the second coming ["The best reaches perfection"], even going so far as to rerelease the game in a GOTY-esque edition, using what should be a relatively normal and free thing as a way to make money.

Brood War and Frozen Throne weren't free.Jasede said:They are charging for what other companies release as a patch; for example Blizzard.
CDprojekt is not charging anything for people who already bought the game, and don't forget Blizzard is charging people every month if they wish to play WOW.Jasede said:They are charging for what other companies release as a patch; for example Blizzard. Then they hype their pay-for patch.
1. The price is really symbolic.Jasede said:Now some say that the patch is actually free, and that is true for those bought The Witcher and have a fast internet connection; however what is also true is that CD Projekt is hyping the patch as the second coming ["The best reaches perfection"], even going so far as to rerelease the game in a GOTY-esque edition, using what should be a relatively normal and free thing as a way to make money.
No, we wouldn't. Give me 5 games where developers gave new content, fixed the game with patches and then went even further to make it even better by making new patches, then they increased graphics, voices, fixed the dialogs, made new quests, mods, etc... and offered it all for FREE? Even Troika, which we all love and worship here just made good games and left them half broken. Go on... answer my question, I am really interested in your answer.Jasede said:We would awfully rant over this if any other developer did something like this!
Indeed, but here this is not the case and you also forget it is our duty to support good things that are happening in RPG industry. This is one of them and you are not acting like a good Codexian.Jasede said:It our duty as good Codexites to smell hype and call it out; no matter how much we like or hate the studio it originated from. It is all hot air.
As for the hype I don't really care, it can be funny to make jokes about it, but that is not really bad if it is not fuelled whit lies.
Considering that half of TW is mediocre. The best reaches perfection
You can regard it whatever you like, but TW is still a very good game, even by old school standards and it is the best game in recent years.Jasede said:I disagree because I don't consider The Witcher an RPG; Gothic at least allows you to choose a "class" of sorts. The Witcher is what we used to call "Action Adventure" really long ago; and that's a very fun genre too, so don't start to whine about me regarding it as such, please.
Noted, and will try to restrain myself from further comments.Jasede said:You know I am really just rattling the bars because the reactions are so funny so you're best off ignoring me.
Five hours of gameplay isn't what I would call just "fixes a few things". Do you even know how much effort and work you have to put into the game to make 5 hours of gameplay? Add that to all the other things they added and I wouldn't call it "merely fixes a few things". Besides, its free so what's the problem? Hyping? I already explained there is a difference between hyping and advertisement. They didn't bribe or lie about anything so far, so I don't see how it is hype.Jasede said:Where was I? Oh yes. pkt; you can not compare an add-on to something that merely fixes a few things.

Just like Hexen!Jasede said:Gothic at least allows you to choose a "class" of sorts.
Sure you can. If a bunch of additional units and a campaign qualify for enough extra content to merit a price tag, why don't the additions of EE?Jasede said:Where was I? Oh yes. pkt; you can not compare an add-on to something that merely fixes a few things.

Point being that a couple of new units fit "should've been in the original version" quite easily. (Does anyone play the un-expanded version of those games?) It's not like you're only paying for the campaign and the pre-rendered cutscenes, either, seeing how the new units haven't been added to the base game in patches, afaik.skyway said:Because there is a difference between expansion packs which add to the game and the bunch of fixes which should've been in the original release.
Like non-shitty translations and lesser number of cloned NPCs that simply hurt the eyes.
Heh. Hehe. Hehehaheheh. Ehehehe, hahahahaha, aaaaahahahahahahahaha, AAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!Mareus said:Now, I agree that ["The best reaches perfection"] is a bit far fetched, but I really don't blame them, because TW really is THE BEST GAME that came out in recent years.
Not if an original game feels complete. TW on the other hand felt unfinished for the reasons above.pkt-zero said:Point being that a couple of new units fit "should've been in the original version" quite easily..
Not hundreds. But having a properly voiced and tested game should be a norm (again), don't you think?Bluebottle said:Hundreds of games have got away with both these faults (and a whole lot more besides) without ever patching either
Actually they are fixing bugs and loading times as well in EEThey're not loading bugs or balance issues
And that wouldn't be a good thing. Taking a quest from a guy that I've met like 10 times before only under different name though with the same voice was pretty tiresome.they're subjective faults that CDP could easily have just left as it was.
Today - yes. Enhanced editions aren't something new. I remember System Shock 1 had one that significantly upgraded everything. And that was like in prehistoric times. Obviously it wasn't free due to lack of the internet access at the time - but CDP won't send me new dvds for free either. No game is ever perfect, but it is still pretty hard to think of any developer that even has the balls to admit to such flaws openly, let alone fix them (even though they aren't earth shattering).
Again what CDP does should be a norm. The point is, is that it's the norm for a developer to never approach issues of this magnitude post release because why the fuck should they? They've already got the money, better to save some issues to be fixed by the inevitable expansion that you can charge for.
